Hyatt has been quickly dominating the all-inclusive space in the Caribbean. Through multiple acquisitions over the past few years (and more coming with a recent announcement around the $2.6 billion purchase of Playa Hotels & Resorts), Hyatt has become a leader in the space. This week it shared that it’s adding its first all-inclusive property in Aruba with the opening of of the adults-only, all-inclusive Secrets Baby Beach Aruba.
The opening marks the first Inclusive Collection branded property on the island of Aruba and Hyatt’s third on the island with other options including the Hyatt Place Aruba Airport and Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort, Spa and Casino (review here). The all-suite property offers 304 keys, each with private, furnished balconies or terraces and daily refreshed minibars. The Preferred Club offers select accommodations with private pools, private soaking tubs on terraces, butler service, a dedicated Preferred Club Lounge with concierge service, daily continental breakfast service, afternoon hors d’oeuvres, desserts, a dedicated bar, pool, and more.
Other amenities include four à la carte gourmet restaurants, a buffet, a café and a grill, and 24-hour in-room dining options, plus six bars and lounges, including a swim-up bar, music lounge, and lobby bar. The three pools on-site complement the beach and include two infinity pools, a more active pool, and two outdoor whirlpools. For more relaxation, there is the 3,200-square-foot Secrets Spa along with a fitness center and 2,569 square feet of flexible meeting and event space.
The resort is located on Baby Beach Bay on the island’s southeastern coast and offers a scenic and serene retreat in one of Aruba’s most beautiful coastal towns. Guests of the hotel have easy access to the San Nicolas Street Murals (an outdoor art gallery created by local and international artists) and Boca Grandi (a place for advanced kite surfers and beachgoers).
Rates at the hotel start around $700 and go up to around $1,000 depending on the season. If you’re looking to redeem World of Hyatt® points here, the resort is classified as Category D. This means that redemptions range from 25,000 to 35,000 points per night.
Anthony’s Take: I love a good beach hotel, but all inclusives are not my thing. Hyatt is making bank from its ever-growing portfolio, but I’d appreciate some hotels that are not all-you-can-eat-and-drink free-for-alls as the crowds at these hotels tend to be quite a bit to take in.
