The St. Regis Rome is one of the best hotels that I have stayed at in years. Every aspect from service to the suite to the treatment as an elite member was beyond top-notch. I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat and am going to be hard pressed to find anything better in Rome.
Anthony’s Take: This hotel is a true gem in the Marriott Bonvoy® portfolio and is now one of my favorite St. Regis locations. It’s well located, offers an amazing breakfast, treats loyal members well, and checked off every box I could ask for when staying in a luxury property.
Booking
I booked a Superior, Guest room, 1 King on an “Award Redemption” rate. I redeemed 248,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points for the stay and applied a Nightly Upgrade Award (this cleared a few days before arriving). The nightly cash rate was €1,749 and included taxes and fees (aside from the city tax). Marriott did away with award charts a few years ago, but redemptions can be had for between 102,000 and 158,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points. That may sound like a lot of points, but it was so worth it.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
I took an Uber Black from Leonardo da Vinci Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO). It cost $59 and took around 50 minutes to drive the approximately 18 miles with some traffic. We made friends with the driver and called him directly for our return trip to the airport (I paid him a similar amount directly).
Location
The St. Regis Rome is well located for site seeing. We walked to the Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, and shopping from there. You’ll find tons of restaurants and just about everything else you’ll need nearby.
Check-in
We arrived at the hotel around 2:30 PM and were promptly checked in. The check-in desks are to the right when entering. There was plenty of staff on hand to quickly assist guests. We were offered a choice of 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points or the breakfast buffet daily. Take the breakfast. It’s spectacular and normally costs €65 per person. I cannot say enough good things about this choice. We were upgraded in advance to a St. Regis Suite and the 3:00 PM late checkout I requested was granted.
Guest rooms are accessed through the elevators and stairs on the left side of the lobby.
The staircase is also incredibly beautiful and we walked it most of the time.
I loved looking up at the ornate ceiling.
The elevators worked well and we never had to wait too long.
The elevator lobby and hallways on our floor were in pristine condition.
Everywhere I looked there was beautiful art.
St. Regis Suite (214)
There are 161 rooms and suites at the St. Regis Rome.
The suite opened with some wardrobes to the right.
An umbrella stand and umbrella were near the door.
The living room was straight ahead. It held a couch, a coffee table, a TV, and a small table with two chairs.
I loved this jar in the living room modeled after the hotel.
The table and chairs worked well for me to get some work done. The TV was mounted over the table and across from the couch.
A bottle of Prosecco and some chocolate covered nuts were waiting on the coffee table as a welcome gift.
The mini bar, bottled water, and a coffeemaker were in the corner.
The Nespresso machine, bottled water, and coffee pods were in the corner.
The refrigerator had minimal room for guest use.
The view overlooked an interior courtyard.
The bedroom was to the left of the living room. It held an insanely comfortable king-sized bed, nightstands, and a second TV.
The TV was mounted to the wall across from the bed.
A huge dressing area/closet was to the side.
The safe was found here.
There were also some laundry bags and a cute tote that we took home.
The bathroom was to the left. It was large and luxurious with a glassed-in shower, vanity with two sinks, bathtub, a bidet, and a toilet.
The bathtub was large. We did not use it during our trip.
A bar of soap, a loofah, and other toiletries were found here.
The vanity offered plenty of counter space and I always love having two sinks.
A bar of Coreterno brand soap and a bottle of hand soap were on the counter.
Additional toiletries were also found here.
The shower was spacious with good water pressure and temperature.
Bottles of Acqua di Parma toiletries were in the shower. I loved the quality and quantity of everything provided.
The toilet was housed alongside a bidet.
Breakfast
The breakfast buffet is served in the lobby restaurant called Lumen. It is spectacular and the service was flawless. Salvatore particularly stood out and made us feel like royalty. There is a massive selection of just about everything you could want including pastries, bread, eggs, hot dishes, made-to-order omelettes, fruit, cold cuts, and so much more.
The buffet room houses three walls of choices. Aside from the huge quantity, the quality was excellent.
Salad ingredients and fresh mozzarella
Meats and cheeses
More meats and cheeses
Berries and yogurt
More yogurt and jams
Honey and some delicious baked goods
Salami was hanging for decoration and maybe curing.
I loved this old meat slicer.
Fruit juice and fresh fruit
Veggies that guests could juice themselves
Bread and grains
Cereal
Fried potatoes and tomatoes
Sausage and bacon
More sausage and ham
Waffles and pancakes
Mushrooms
Vegetables
Pastries were found in the dining room and one was better than the next.
The coffee was excellent.
My husband ordered an omelette and said it was delicious.
As amazing as the food was, the dining room was just as impressive.
The second morning we were seated in a side room. The whimsical decor was so much fun in here.
Public Areas & Amenities
The St. Regis Rome has a magnificent lobby that is dominated by the restaurant, a fitness center, a spa, and a ballroom.
The ballroom was magnificent.
Even the side hallways were impressive.
Everywhere I looked, I was awed at the level of opulence.
A candy cart sat next to the dining room. I saw a server give a child a balloon from here.
The fitness center and spa were reached with this cool elevator.
We did not use the spa, but saw it near the fitness center.
The fitness center was tiny, but not occupied when we went.
Water, towels, and apples were on offer.
I even liked the art in the fitness center.
Overall Impression:
There is nothing to say about this hotel other than it is spectacular. I will be returning in the future and cannot imagine a more elegant and delightful place to stay.
