My company hosted an event at the Cincinnati Open this week and I needed a hotel near the tennis complex. The Marriott Cincinnati Northeast is near the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, OH. Many of the players were staying in the hotel and I saw several in passing while staying there.
Anthony’s Take: The hotel was convenient, had all the amenities I needed, and works well if you’re in town for the Cincinnati Open. I liked that the lounge was open 24 hours a day and enjoyed my stay, overall.
Booking
I booked a Guest Room, 1 King, Sofa Bed on a “Special Event Rate.” It was $399 per night plus taxes and fees. Marriott did away with award charts a few years ago, but redemptions can be had for between 23,000 and 42,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
I took an Uber Comfort from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) to the hotel and back the next morning. The ride there took around around 41 minutes (it’s around 33.2 miles) and cost $78. Departing, the ride was around $84, but took around 47 minutes.
Location
The hotel is located in Mason, OH. Local businesses like Anthem, Luxottica, Cintas, Vantiv, and Procter & Gamble are nearby. It was the perfect location for attending the Cincinnati Open.
I arrived at the hotel around 3:00 PM and the lobby was empty.
It was decorated with lots of tennis-related images projected onto the walls. The restaurant lines the back wall.
The lobby is large with tons of open seating.
Check-In
As mentioned, we arrived at the hotel around 3:00 PM. The room was ready and the agent explained that the M Club Lounge was located within the lobby and open 24 hours a day. Breakfast was also served there. I requested a 2:00 PM late checkout, which was granted without issue. Upgrades were not available as the hotel was fully booked. I chose points as my welcome amenity for being Titanium Elite, had my keys printed, and was on the way to the room.
The elevators are down a long hallway past the fitness center and both pools.
The elevator lobby and hallways on our floor were both clean and in good repair.
Guest Room, 1 King, Sofa Bed (620)
There are 307 rooms and suites at the Marriott Cincinnati Northeast.
The room opened with the bathroom on the right. It was a tiny bathroom with a vanity with a single sink, a toilet, and a glassed-in shower.
The vanity offered a lot of empty counter space.
A bar of thisworks® brand soap, body lotion, and mouthwash were near the sink.
The toilet was located between the vanity and the shower without a lot of space. It also did not flush well.
The shower was a good size. Both the water pressure and temperature were fine.
Large bottles of thisworks® brand shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were mounted to the wall.
An open closet was located across from the bathroom.
The left cabinet held an iron and ironing board.
The right side offered a safe and refrigerator.
The refrigerator was empty for guest use.
The shelves above held bottled water, glasses, an ice bucket, a coffeemaker, coffee, cups, and condiments.
The bedroom was straight ahead. It held a king-sized bed, two nightstands, a desk and chair, a TV, and a sofa with another table.
The bed was comfortable, but the comforter was a bit warm.
The sofa was large and could be converted into another bed.
A TV was mounted across from the bed.
The large desk was next to it.
A full-length mirror was also across from the bed.
M Club Lounge
The M Club Lounge is open 24 hours. It’s open to Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador Elite members (plus one guest) as well as those who book rooms that grant access. Snacks, coffee, and soft drinks are available all day with evening hors d’oeuvres and breakfast served here.
The lounge offers several seating configurations for relaxing and dining.
Tables were near the entrance.
Sodas, coffee, and water were near the front. I wish there was an espresso machine.
There were some interesting soda choices.
Drip coffee was offered throughout the day.
Breakfast offered various breads, yogurt, condiments, and a toaster for guest use.
Scrambled eggs, bacon, and potatoes were the hot offerings.
Oatmeal was also on offer.
Fresh fruit
Cereal
Juice
Whole fresh fruit was near the entrance
A computer and printer were also in the lounge.
Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel offers both an indoor and an outdoor pool (pictured above), a fitness center, a business center, a restaurant and bar, a coffee bar, an ATM, a mini market, as well as meeting and event space.
The indoor pool reeked of chlorine.
Towels were provided for both pools.
Coffee was setup nearby in the morning.
An ATM was down the hall near the fitness center.
A business center is off of the lobby.
A coffee bar was nearby.
The fitness center was well equipped.
I liked that it offered chilled towels.
The mini market was next to the front desk.
Overall Impression:
The Marriott Cincinnati Northeast offered everything I needed for my short stay. This is a great choice when visiting Cincinnati for the tennis tournament.
