After spending a few days in Stockholm and Malmö we went to London and returned to one of our favorite hotels. The JW Marriott Grosvenor House London is located in Mayfair and provides a central location for exploring the city. It’s especially nice to be at the hotel around Christmas as it (and the surrounding area) is decked out to the nines.
Anthony’s Take: This is not only one of my favorite hotels in London, it’s also one of the JW Marriott properties that I love most. The service is impeccable, the suites are luxe, and the lounge offers a great oasis after a day of sightseeing (as well as the perfect spot for breakfast). I’ve stayed at this hotel around four times and I know that I’ll be back.

Booking
I booked a Superior Room, 1 King on a “Redemption” rate. It was 73,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points per night and it would have cost around $620 if I was paying cash for the room. I applied a Nightly Upgrade Award, but that was rejected.

Transportation to/from the Hotel
We took an Uber Lux from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to the hotel and back two days later. It took around 34 minutes for the 16.4-mile ride and cost around $85. The return was a similar cost and travel time.

Location
The hotel is located in Mayfair, which is one of London’s most posh neighborhoods. I love the shopping, restaurants, and proximity to Hyde Park. It’s easy to get around on foot, with Uber, and via the London Underground from the hotel.

Check-In
The lobby is dazzling when visiting around Christmas. We arrived at the hotel around 10:00 PM. The agent assisting us was friendly and explained the benefits offered to Titanium Elite members. She provided details around the Executive Lounge and asked if we needed a late checkout (we did not). I asked about an upgrade and was told that none were available. I pushed a bit more (as the app was showing all types available for upgrade) and she went to talk to her manager. She came back and said we had been upgraded to a Deluxe Suite, 1 Queen. We’d prefer a king-sized bed, but appreciated the suite. With that, she printed our keys and we went to the suite.

The elevators are across the lobby from reception and to the left of the Executive Lounge.

The elevator lobby and hallways were in good repair and clean.

Deluxe Suite, 1 Queen (830)
There are 420 rooms and suites at the hotel.

The suite opened with a small foyer.

A desk was close to the door.

The bathroom was to the right of the desk. The bathroom was tiny and it had a toilet, single sink, and shower/tub combo (not my favorite).

The toilet actually had some space even though the bathroom was tiny.

The sink had a tiny amount of counter space.

A bar of Aromatherapy Associates soap was on the counter.

Other toiletries including more soap, body lotion, toothpaste, mouthwash, and more were on the counter.

The shower/tub combo was deep and a bit dangerous to climb in and out of when showering. The water pressure and temperature were both fine.

More Aromatherapy Associates toiletries were on shelf in the shower.

An arm chair and a lamp made up the rest of the furniture in the room.

The bedroom was off of this small living room. It held a queen-sized bed, nightstands, a chair with table, a console table, and a TV on top of a cabinet that held the mini bar.

The TV was oddly placed.

A mini bar was inside along with a Nespresso machine, cups, water, condiments, tea, and more.

The refrigerator did not have space for guest use and was filled with drinks for sale.

The chair was near the windows along with a small side table.

Bottled water was on the night stand.

The closets held a robe, an iron, an ironing board, an umbrella, and a safe.

The view looked out over the streets of Mayfair.

Executive Lounge
The Executive Lounge is in the lobby next to the elevators. It is open for several services each day. We were able to have breakfast here during our visit, but did not have the chance to stop by in the evening for the impressive cocktail hour spread that is served here.

A desk near the entrance was staffed to check credentials for access. Marriott Bonvoy® Platinum Elite and above get access along with any guests that book rooms that include the lounge.

The lounge is made up of several rooms with the buffet to the left.

There is a lot of seating in the lounge and even when it’s busy it does not feel overly crowded.

More seating

The breakfast buffet offers just about everything you could want in the morning with a nice mix of hot and cold dishes. Eggs were made to order.

Baked Beans

Cumberland Pork Sausage

Bacon

Croissants

Muffins and cereal

Vegetables, salmon, meats, and cheeses

Yogurt

More bread and a toaster for guest use

Cheese

Fresh fruit

Scott’s Porridge Oats

There were several coffee machines around the lounge.

The lounge was also decorated for the holidays.

I like the decor throughout the space all year round.

Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel has a large lobby with plenty of seating as well as nine restaurants (with many on the ground floor). It also offers a fitness center, on-site laundry, hair salon, business center, and meeting/event space.

The Park Room was nicely designed.

Poor peacock

The JW Steakhouse and Park Lane Market are near the front entrance.

The fitness center was a decent size and included what you’d expect (including a Peloton Bike).

Towels, apples, and water were on offer.

A separate room had a weird blue light. Is this for relaxing?

The business center is located upstairs and is a bit difficult to locate.

It offered computers and desk space.
Overall Impression:
I love this hotel. Every stay has been great and just being on property feels special. This is even more the case around Christmas. I can’t wait to return (maybe in June).
