On our way home from Corfu and Sarandë, we spent the night at the Hyatt Regency Manchester. Our Singapore Airlines’ flight home was the next morning and we had the afternoon and evening to explore the city. The Hyatt Regency Manchester is a lovely hotel and was a short Uber ride from everywhere that we wanted to check out.
Anthony’s Take: The Hyatt Regency Manchester is a modern, comfortable hotel. There is no lounge, but breakfast, soft drinks throughout the day, and an evening reception make up for this omission. The Hyatt Regency shares the building with a Hyatt House and many of the facilities are for both hotels. The Hyatt Regency Manchester has only one suite and I booked it to make sure that we would have it rather than attempt to get an upgrade for our overnight here.
Booking
I booked a Weekend Stayover rate for the Regency Suite. Rates at this hotel are reasonable and the cash rate was £337 plus taxes. If not paying cash, you can expect a range of 6,500-9,500 points per night for a room when redeeming World of Hyatt points.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
We flew into and out of Manchester Airport (MAN) and booked with Uber Premium. It took around 20 minutes for the 8.7-mile ride to the hotel and cost around $40 each way.
Location
The hotel is located in an area that is primarily for business travelers. There were a few restaurants nearby, but not much in the way of sightseeing or shopping near the hotel.
The lobby has some seating between the check-in area and the restaurant. Complimentary water was also found here.
Check-in
We arrived at the hotel around 3:30 PM and our suite was ready. The check-in agent explained the benefits given to us for holding Globalist status. This included a late checkout (which we did not need) as well as breakfast in the restaurant, soft drinks throughout the day at the bar, and an evening reception with snacks and drinks (also at the bar). The agent was friendly and she thought we had been upgraded at first. I told her that I booked the Regency Suite and she laughed because she says only one guest gets it every night.
A concierge desk was located near the check-in area. There are two sets of elevators and the one closest to the concierge leads to the Hyatt Regency’s rooms. The other elevator bank is for the Hyatt House.
The elevators were quick and clean. The elevator lobby on our floor was also in good repair.
The Regency Suite is located on the 10th floor.
The hallways feature a carpet that I’ve seen in several other Hyatt Regency hotels. It felt new as we walked down the hallway to our suite.
Regency Suite (1010)
There are 212 rooms and suites at the hotel.
The suite opens with a small living room. There was a table with four chairs here.
A welcome amenity was on the table.
A couch, lamp, and coffee table were nearby.
A TV was mounted to the wall across from the couch.
There was a desk near the door.
A cabinet in the corner housed the mini bar.
There was a Nespresso machine here.
Snacks for sale, cups, coffee pods, and condiments were next to the coffeemaker.
The refrigerator was below. It had drinks for sale as well as some open space for guest use.
A tea kettle was inside the cabinet.
The bedroom was off of the living room. It held a king-sized bed, tables, a chaise lounge, and an arm chair.
The bed was comfortable.
I liked that there were lots of outlets around it.
A full-length mirror was on one wall.
The room also held two armoires. One had a robe and some extra pillows.
The other held extra blankets, an iron, the safe, and a blowdryer.
A second TV was mounted across from the bed.
The chair had a small nested table for snacking or working. It was oddly placed in the room.
The view offered a sense of the surrounding area.
The bathroom was off of the bedroom. It was on the smaller side, but worked for the night.
The vanity held a single sink and did not have much counter space. There was also a toilet, bathtub, and separate glassed-in shower.
The toiletries on the counter were APPELLES Apothecary brand. This was the first time that I had seen the Australian brand and I liked the scent. There was no bar soap provided.
Other amenities like toothbrushes, shower caps, and more were on a shelf above the sink.
The shower was a good size with decent water pressure and temperature.
Additional toiletries were mounted to the shower wall.
We did not use the tub and would have preferred more space in the bathroom.
A single bottle of Hand & Body Wash was next to the tub.
The toilet was placed without much room as it was between the sink and shower.
Evening Reception
An evening reception is hosted in the bar found on the lobby level. Globalists and their guests get canapés and drinks (including wine and beer).
A tray of canapés was provided and you could order more if you wanted them. These included tuna salad, beef balls, and a hummus.
We had two glasses of rosé.
The bar area is bright and spacious with lots of tables.
I liked the flowers throughout the space as well as the living wall.
Breakfast
A breakfast buffet is served in the lobby restaurant called The Laureate. It offered a nice selection of cold and hot dishes as well as omelettes made to order.
The buffet had two self-serve coffee machines.
It was interesting to see that the hotel charged extra for takeaway cups, iced beverages, and flavored syrups.
Eggs
Sausage
Tomatoes and mushrooms
Rice
Potatoes

There was a self-serve porridge station with lots of add-in toppings.
Bread and pastries
A toaster for guest use.
Cereal
Cold dishes
Cheese, yogurt, and condiments
Meat, fish, tomatoes, and grapes
More fruit and yogurt
Juice and water
Drip coffee and tea
My husband ordered an omelette.
Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel has a fitness center, snacks and drinks for sale in the lobby, as well as a restaurant and bar. I liked that the fitness center had Peloton bikes.
There was a good amount of equipment and it was a nice, bright space.
Towels and water were provided.
A small market was located near the bar.
The hotel also had umbrellas for rent, which seems odd to me. In a place like the UK, these should be complimentary for guest use.
Overall Impression:
The Hyatt Regency Manchester is a modern hotel with nice amenities and friendly service. I would definitely stay here again when in town.
