I have stayed at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson many times through the years. My last review is from November 2024. Since then, the hotel has renovated the lobby, meeting spaces, and other public areas. This was much needed and the results look great. Guest rooms were renovated prior to the other spaces and it’s nice to see the investment here. The hotel is convenient for heading across the Hudson River into NYC with the PATH station next door. Its location also provides great views of the Manhattan skyline.
Anthony’s Take: I have one complaint about this hotel. Its valet service (an outsourced company) is awful. Valets are rude, condescending, and do not want to be there. Parking is expensive and you need to pay every time you exit. The hotel itself is great with a nice breakfast, friendly service, and a location that cannot be beat.

Booking
I booked a Hudson River Suite on an award rate of 21,000 points per night. The hotel is a Category 4 property and room redemptions range from 12,000 to 18,000 per night when redeeming World of Hyatt® points for a standard room. Rates vary but are generally around $300 per night. Spending a few thousand more points for a suite (that was running around $750 per night) made sense. The slightly smaller, Ellis Suite is available at the same redemption rate.

When checking in on the app, it confirmed the suite I booked.

Transportation to/from the Hotel
We rented a car at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). It took around 23 minutes to drive the 11.9 miles. Heading back, our ride to the airport took around the same time.

Location
As mentioned above, the hotel is located on the waterfront in Jersey City. It provides great views and easy access to New York City. There are also lots of stores and restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

The valet area is where rideshare drops off and all cars go to access the hotel.

There is a small seating area as you enter from the valet.

A small business center is located on the floor below the escalators. You’ll pass it on the way up and down. The escalator leads to the lobby.

The hotel was ready for the holidays during our visit.

Check-in
The valet is not operated by the hotel and is awful. The independent operator charges $54 for 24 hours and it must be paid when taking the car out. This cannot be billed to the room. We arrived at the hotel around 6:00 PM and our suite was ready. Reception is up the escalator and to the right. The agent offered late checkout, but we did not need it. The hotel does not have a Club Lounge and I was informed that breakfast is served in The Exchange restaurant located on the lobby level. This is a huge improvement from the makeshift meal served in a ballroom during renovations (even though that was pretty impressive for what it was). I was proactively offered late checkout (I declined) and my parking was comped as a Globalist on an award stay. We had the keys a few moments later and were on the way to our suite. I did not realize it at the time, but we were assigned the same suite in November 2025 that we were in November 2024.

The elevators are located across from reception.

The elevator lobby and hallways on our floor were clean and in good repair. The renovations are complete here and look great.

Hudson River Suite (604)
There are 351 rooms and suites at the hotel.

The suite opens into a small hallway with a mirror and table.

The living room is to the left. It’s huge and a great space to hang out. There is an L-shaped sectional, chairs, and multiple tables.

Two arm chairs are near the balcony.

Another cabinet was tucked into the far corner.

Another bench is in the corner near the bedroom.

A TV was mounted on the wall across from the couch.

The balcony was small, but offered incredible views of NYC.

It also held two chairs.

The bedroom was to the right. It contained a king-sized bed, two nightstands, another TV, a wardrobe, refrigerator, and desk with chair.

The desk was against the window.

An open wardrobe was near the desk.

A TV is mounted on the wall across from the bed.

Another bench was near the bed.

A mini bar was located near the bathroom.

It contained a coffeemaker, cups, coffee, condiments, and an ice bucket. A safe and refrigerator were also located here.

A small closet held an iron and ironing board.

The entrance to the bathroom was to the left of the mini bar. The bathroom was on the small side for such a large suite. It held a vanity with a single sink, toilet, and glassed-in shower.

A bar of Pharmacopia brand soap was on the counter. I prefer the Beekman 1802 that used to be supplied at this hotel.

A large bottle of lotion was also found here.

The toilet was pretty close to the sink.

The shower was adequate with decent water pressure and temperature.

The small toiletries and another bar of soap were replaced with several wall-mounted bottles. I used to like that there were not wall-mounted toiletries in large bottles at this property.

Breakfast
As a Globalist, I was provided breakfast for two in The Exchange restaurant. The buffet was plentiful and everything that I tasted was fine. It included hot dishes, fruit, yogurt, breads, and more.

Scrambled Eggs

Bacon and Sausage

Breakfast Potatoes

French Toast

Vegetables

Oatmeal

Salmon, tomatoes, and cheese

Yogurt

Bread, bagels, and muffins

A toaster for guest use

Fruit

Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel has a fitness center, an indoor pool, multiple event rooms, an ATM, the business center (pictured above), a restaurant, a mini market, and lots of seating past reception.

The mini market was near reception.

The ATM was also found there.

There is a lot of open space on the other side of the lobby across from reception. Some seating would go far here.

There were no Peloton Bikes here.

The fitness center is a decent size with plenty of equipment. Towels and water were provided.

The pool is small and reeks of chlorine. This photo courtesy of Hyatt shows the old location of the fitness center. It is now on a different level.
Overall Impression:
The Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson offers a great location and the renovation is lovely. This was my first stay after the refresh and the hotel did a good job. I’ll be back in the future.

We stay at the Hyatt Place in Secaucus. Parking garage is free (self park), rooms are 12,000 pts and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Maybe the breakfast is a step down vs the Hyatt Regency but there’s no way I’m paying that for parking with no in/out privileges
