A few weeks ago, I had to be in Cleveland for a night on business. The event I was attending was a few blocks from the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade and it made for the perfect location downtown. The space is architecturally stunning and it’s a fine hotel, overall.
Anthony’s Take: The Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade occupies part of a landmark building that was built in 1890. I found myself in awe of the massive atrium and the architectural details that make up the hotel’s host building. Service was good, but the hotel offers limited amenities and its elevators were out of service for scheduled repairs during part of my brief stay. That said, the property was where I needed to be and I was happy with the upgrade I received.
Booking
I booked a 1 King Bed City View room on a “Member Rate.” It was $309 plus taxes and fees. The hotel falls under Category 3 with award rates for standard rooms ranging from 9,000 to 15,000 World of Hyatt® points.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
I took an Uber Comfort from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE) to the hotel. It cost around $44 for the 13-mile ride and took around 18 minutes. The return was around the same cost and time back to the airport.
Location
The Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade is located in the East 4th Street Entertainment District and within a 10-minute walk of major sporting and entertainment venues. There are tons of restaurants and stores just outside the hotel.
Entering the building that hosts the Hyatt Regency, you can’t help but look up at the impressive arcade.
The lobby is on the second floor. When I arrived, the elevators were out of service and I had to take the stairs with my bags. These were working again towards the end of my stay.
The hotel lobby is found near the front of the building on the second floor.
It’s a smaller space with limited seating and was quite busy while I was there.
Check-In
The check-in desk is to the left upon entering the lobby. The agent was friendly and informed me that I had been upgraded to a Suite One King Bed. I was asked about late checkout (I did not need it) and told breakfast was in the restaurant located outside of the lobby in the arcade.
I walked down the hallway and grabbed the elevators at the opposite end of the building to get to my suite on the fourth floor. The elevator lobby and hallways were both clean and well maintained.
I am not usually a fan of atrium-style hotels, but this one was special. This is a far cry from a building from the 1980s that was constructed to host convention goers.
The hallways provided tons of natural light.
I liked the gargoyles tucked around.
Suite One King Bed (454)
There are 293 rooms and suites at the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade.
The suite opened with a living room.
It held a chaise lounge.
A desk and chair were near the door.
A corner unit held a coffeemaker, coffee, cups, condiments, and the refrigerator.
The refrigerator was empty for guest use aside from some complimentary water.
A TV was nearby.
The bathroom and bedroom were past the living room. The bathroom was small with a vanity (with a single sink), a toilet, and a shower/tub combo (I’m never a fan of these).
The vanity offered a good amount of counter space and a bright light.
A bottle of Pharmacopia body lotion was near the sink.
A bar of soap was also near the sink.
The toilet was evenly spaced in the small room.
The shower/tub combo served its purpose. Water pressure and temperature were good.
More Pharmacopia brand toiletries were mounted to the shower wall.
A closet was outside of the bathroom. It held a safe, extra blanket, luggage rack, iron, and ironing board.
I liked the vintage doorknobs.
The bedroom held a king-sized bed, two nightstands, two chairs, a table, a dresser, and a TV.
The king-sized bed was comfortable.
The chairs were near the window.
The TV was mounted to the wall across from the bed.
There was not much of a view.
A welcome amenity was delivered later in the evening.
Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel has a fitness center, a restaurant across from the lobby (pictured above), a little convenience store in the lobby, a microwave for guest use, and an ATM.
The store is located next to the front desk.
A microwave is across the room.
A small business center is to the left of the front desk.
An ATM is on the ground floor.
The fitness center is also right inside of the street-level entrance.
It’s a small fitness center with a decent array of equipment.
I liked that it had a Peloton Bike.
Towels and water were on offer.
Overall Impression:
The Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade offers a convenient, downtown location as well as the amenities you’ll need. The service was friendly and the suite was comfortable. I’m sure I’ll be back.
