Last week, I had a dinner to attend in Cincinnati, OH. I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati as I’m working to renew my Globalist status for 2025. The hotel worked well for what I needed for the less than 16 hours I spent in Cincinnati. It was a quick ride to my dinner and is convenient if you have a future event at the Duke Energy Convention Center (although that is under construction currently with a massive renovation in the works).
Anthony’s Take: The Hyatt Regency Cincinnati is a functional and convenient business hotel steps away from the convention center. The hotel is meant for business travelers and that is the crowd I encountered during my stay. I did not get a chance to try out the breakfast and there is no lounge here. Suites were sold out during my stay, but I was upgraded to a King Bed Deluxe, which gave me more room.
Booking
I booked 1 King Bed room on a Standard Rate of $180 plus taxes and fees. The hotel is a Category 3 property and room redemptions range from 9,000 to 15,000 per night when redeeming World of Hyatt points for a standard room.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
I took an Uber Comfort from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG). The approximately 13.3-mile ride took 17 minutes and cost $33. I returned to the airport the next morning in the same way and at a similar cost.
Location
The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Duke Energy Convention Center. There are also stores and restaurants nearby. There is a good amount of construction around the hotel, but it did not impact transit to/from the hotel.
Check-in
I arrived at the hotel around 4:00 PM and my room was ready. Reception lines the right side of the lobby. The agent checking me in informed me that I was upgraded to a 1 King Bed Deluxe. I did not need a late checkout, but was not asked either. The hotel does not have a Club Lounge and I was told breakfast was available in the restaurant. I had my key a few moments later and was on the way to my room.
I was provided with a welcome letter and breakfast voucher at check in. Unfortunately, I did not have the time to check out breakfast.
The lobby is an open atrium with lots of seating spread throughout.
There were several smaller rooms off of the lobby. One held a pool table and TV.
Another room was designed like a library.
An escalator leads up to meeting rooms and the fitness center on the second floor.
The elevator lobby is located on the left side.
The hallways and elevator lobby on my floor were in good repair and clean.
An ice machine and soda machine were located near my room.
1 King Bed Deluxe (1608)
There are 491 rooms and suites at the hotel.
The room opens into a small hallway with a full-length mirror and closet near the entrance.
The closet held an iron and ironing board, robe, and luggage rack.
The bathroom was across from the closet. It contained a toilet, vanity with single sink, and glassed-in shower. There was lots of counter space here.
The toilet was positioned pretty close to the vanity.
An assortment of toiletries were found on the counter including a toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, and a bar of Pharmacopia brand soap.
The shower was a good size. Water pressure and temperature were both fine.
Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were mounted to the wall of the shower.
The bedroom was spacious with a king-sized bed, two nightstands, a TV, and cabinet that held the safe, refrigerator, and coffeemaker.
The TV was mounted across from the bed.
The cabinet below it contained an empty refrigerator, two bottles of water, an ice bucket, and a coffeemaker, coffee, and condiments.
The safe was located behind the cabinet door.
A desk and chair were near the window.
Another chair and a small table were also found here.
The view looked out over some of the city.
Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel has a fitness center, an indoor pool, a ballroom that can accommodate 1,000 guests, eight event rooms, The Market (pictured above), and a restaurant.
The Red Roost Restaurant is near reception in the lobby.
The fitness center is on the second floor.
It held plenty of equipment. I was not able to get more pictures as several guests were working out.
Towels and water were provided.
An indoor pool is also on the property. I did not get to check it out and this photo is courtesy of Hyatt.
Overall Impression:
The Hyatt Regency Cincinnati gets the job done if you’re staying there for a conference or nearby meetings. Elite benefits were okay. More should be done for guests due to the lack of a lounge, in my opinion. I’ll stay here again when in Cincinnati as the hotel was inexpensive and worked for my needs.
