Last week, I had to host a dinner near Blue Ash, OH (a suburb of Cincinnati). The closest Hyatt property was the Hyatt Place Cincinnati/Blue Ash and I ended up spending most of a night there. This is an odd hotel. Furniture was stacked up in the lobby, the woman working the front desk was so pregnant that I feared she might give birth during her shift, and the fire alarm went off many times.
Anthony’s Take: I did not enjoy my stay here. Hyatt Place hotels are pretty much all the same, but this one felt off. Between the lobby being oddly laid out and a fire alarm that kept going off, I did not make it through the full night. I needed sleep, so in the late-night hours I took an Uber to the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cincinnati Airport.
Booking
I booked a 1 King Bed (With Sofa Bed) room through Hyatt for $147 per night plus taxes and fees. This hotel falls in the Category 1 redemption bucket, which means that a standard room will cost between 3,500 and 6,500 points.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
I took an Uber Comfort from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) to the hotel. It cost $54 and took about 36 minutes to drive the approximately 32.8 miles with light traffic. When I left the hotel to head to the other hotel, I also took an Uber Comfort. It cost $59 and the ride was about the same amount of time.
Location
The hotel’s website says that it’s near “the Blue Ash Business District…sports stadiums, shopping malls, amusement parks, botanical gardens, golf greens, and art centers.” It is if you have a car. There is not much nearby to walk to when you are staying at this hotel.
The furniture in the lobby was oddly stacked together and just felt weird.
There were some other tables and chair around the lobby.
Most of the TVs in the lobby were working.
Check-in
I arrived around 2:00 PM and my room was ready. Like most Hyatt Places, this one had the reception desk as part of the bar. The agent that assisted me was friendly, but seemed flustered. He said that their credit card machine was not working and had me fill out a paper authorization form. He explained that breakfast was served in the room across from the front desk and asked if I needed a late checkout (I did not). He then printed my keys, and I was in my room moments later.
The elevators are behind the front desk area.
The elevator lobby and hallways were clean and in fine shape.
An ice maker was next to the elevators.
King Bed High Floor (With Sofa Bed) (617)
The Hyatt Place Cincinnati/Blue Ash has 125 rooms.
The room opened with a living room area to the left. It held a couch, ottoman/table, and side table.
A sink and refrigerator were on the other side of the entrance.
The coffee machine, coffee, cups, and condiments were on the counter.
The refrigerator was empty for guest use.
A desk and chair were across from this area.
A TV was in the center of the room.
An ice bucket and glasses were found below.
A vanity with a single sink were behind this area.
A bar of KENETMD SKINCARE and a bottle of conditioner were on the counter. It was odd that there was no lotion here.
A closet was next to the vanity. It held a luggage rack, iron, ironing board, and a blanket.
The bathroom was to the left with a toilet and glassed-in shower. It was a tight room.
The toilet was right against the shower.
The shower was offered both good water pressure and temperature.
Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were mounted to the wall.
The bedroom area was across from the bathroom. It offered a king-sized bed and two nightstands.
The view wasn’t much to look at.
Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel offers an outdoor pool (pictured above), fitness center, restaurant/bar, breakfast room, and beverages for sale in the lobby.
This room offers free breakfast for all guests. I was not there for it.
The front desk had a good assortment of drinks for sale.
The fitness center was on the small side.
Neither towels or water were offered.
Overall Impression:
The hotel felt off. I did not see other guests and the fire alarm was a real nuisance. I won’t be returning to this one in the future.
