After a great stay at the St. Regis Rome (review here), we flew to Montenegro. We had never been to the tiny nation and were excited to check it out. There are no Hyatt or Marriott properties in the capital, Podgorica, but Hilton offers the Hilton Podgorica Crna Gora there.
Anthony’s Take: The Hilton Podgorica Crna Gora is a modern and convenient hotel when staying in Podgorica and even as a base when exploring the rest of the country (we drove to Kotor for the day, for example). The hotel had a good breakfast buffet, an even nice lounge, and friendly service, overall. The hotel also has a large spa/pool area, fitness center, casino, and more. The only downside is that the hotel reeks of smoke. The hallways, common areas, and even the room smelled of cigarettes.
Booking
I booked a King One Bedroom Suite with Lounge Access on an “Honors Discount Semi-Flex” rate. The nightly cash rate was €279 and included taxes and fees. Hilton offers award redemptions for 49,000 to 127,000 points for a standard room.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
We rented a car and drove the approximately seven miles to Podgorica Airport (TGD). We went back the same way two days later.
Location
The hotel is located near multiple restaurants and shops. It’s also possible to walk to the Old Town and various attractions from the hotel.
We parked in the parking garage and took the elevator into the lobby. It’s a large space decked out in marble with some seating and an art exhibit near the front door. Fresh flowers filled a table in the center of the lobby.
Seating was located across from the check-in desk.
The art exhibit was fun. I’m a fan of modern art and liked some of these works.
Windows on the front of the building let in a good amount of natural light.
Check-in
We arrived at the hotel around 3:00 PM and were promptly checked in. The check-in desks are to the right when entering from the elevator or front doors. There were several agents ready to assist. We were told that our suite was upgraded to a King One Bedroom Suite with Kitchenette. The agent also explained the hours for the lounge as well as that breakfast was in the restaurant on the lobby level. Keys were printed and we were off to the suite a moment later.
The elevators are around the corner from the check-in desks. They were a bit slow and we got stuck for a few moments in one (which was rather unnerving).
The elevator lobby and hallways on our floor were well maintained, but they had a strong cigarette smoke odor.
King One Bedroom Suite with Kitchenette (504)
There are 180 rooms and suites at the Hilton Podgorica Crna Gora.
The suite opened with the kitchenette area to the left.
It contained a microwave, range, sink, tea kettle, dishes, glasses, and cutlery.
A table and chairs were around the corner.
This led to the living area. It held a couch, several chairs, a desk and chair, as well as a TV and cabinet that held the minibar.
A tasty welcome amenity was found on the coffee table.
The TV was mounted across from the couch.
The desk was a good spot for me to get some work done.
The cabinet behind the desk held the minibar. The refrigerator had drinks for sales and space for guest use.
A shelf above the refrigerator had some snack for sale.
The bedroom was to the left of the living area. It contained a king-sized bed, two nightstands, a TV, and a large closet/dressing area.
The TV was mounted on the wall across from the bed.
The closet offered space for a suitcase as well as several areas to hang clothes.
An iron, ironing board, extra sheets, a safe, and the blowdryer were in here.
A separate closet space offered hangers.
The bathroom was to the left of the bedroom. It was pretty tight with a glassed-in shower, toilet, a tub, and vanity with a single sink filling the room.
The toilet was tightly packed into the corner.
The shower was fine with decent water pressure and temperature.
Bottles of Crabtree & Evelyn shampoo and conditioner were mounted to the wall.
A bottle of shower gel must have fallen off and was sitting on the shelf.
The vanity held a single sink and offered limited counter space.
Crabtree & Evelyn had wash and body lotion were on the counter.
We did not use the tub, but it was a good size.
More Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries were found here.
Breakfast
The breakfast buffet is served in the lobby restaurant. It offered a full room and then some of breakfast items including eggs, sausage, bacon, oatmeal, meats and cheeses, yogurt, baked goods, breads, cereals, and more. You will not leave breakfast hungry.

Executive Lounge
Some rooms and suites as well as Diamond members have access to the Executive Lounge. It offered a rather substantial spread in the evenings and it changed day to day. This included hot dishes, salads, snacks, desserts, and beverages.
A desk near the entrance was staffed to check access rights.
The room had plenty of spaces to sit and was never busy when we went there.
The decor was modern and everything was clean inside. A computer and printer were available for guest use.
The lounge had a nice balcony with plenty of tables and great views.
The area around the hotel was quite pastoral.
The buffet offered a rather complete meal each evening.

Overall Impression:
The hotel worked well for us while visiting Montenegro. I did not like the smoke odor, but other than that it was a nice hotel with lots of amenities and all you’ll need for a business or leisure trip.

Nice review of a hotel – indeed, a country I have almost no knowledge of. Out of curiosity, why visit Montenegro, and why for such a short time?
Thanks. It’s one of the few we have not visited in Europe. I heard it was beautiful, but that there was not a ton to do or see. Quick flight from Rome worked well.
