I had to be in Atlanta for a dinner and the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead was the perfect location (just down the street). There are tons of hotels in the area. I’ve stayed at the St. Regis before, but for this trip I wanted to check out the Grand Hyatt.
Anthony’s Take: The Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead is a great choice. I loved the Club Lounge, suite upgrade, and service at this hotel. I was not there long, but every employee I encountered was friendly and the hotel is in great condition.

Booking
I booked a 1 King Bed room on a “Member Rate” for $326 plus taxes and fees. The hotel is a Category 3 property and room redemptions range from 9,000 to 15,000 per night when redeeming World of Hyatt® points for a standard room. The hotel also charges a $30 (plus tax) Destination Fee. This was waived for me as a Globalist.

Transportation to/from the Hotel
I took an Uber Comfort from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to the hotel. It took around 35 minutes for the 19.5-mile ride and cost $68. On the way back the next morning, the time and cost were around the same.

Location
The hotel is well situated in Buckhead. It provides convenient access to Atlanta and everything that you’ll want to do there while visiting.

Check-In
I arrived at the hotel around noon. The lobby was located one floor above where Uber dropped me off. I took the elevator and was quickly assisted. The agent checking me in told me about the Destination Fee (and how it would be waived for me), the hotel, and that I had been upgraded to a suite, which was ready. She asked if I needed late checkout (I did not), told me about the lounge, and printed my keys. I was in my suite moments later.

Destination Fee
Even though this was not paid by me, Destination Fees are cash grabs and always annoy me. Here is what the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead provides:
- $15 F&B Credit
- Premium Internet Access
- Simon Center “Savings Passport” for use in Lenox Mall and Phipps Plaza at 30+ Retailers
- 24 Hour Fitness with Peloton
- House Car Service
- Local/800 Calls
- Buckhead Village Neighborhood Discounts (15% off Todd Patrick, Buckhead Art Gallery, Dyptyque, BM Franklin, Billy Reid)
- Sauna
- 2 Bottled Waters per stay
- Japanese Zen Garden
- Seasonal Outdoor Heated Pool

The lobby and lower floor both offer some seating.

The hotel was pretty elegant and minimalist in all of the common areas.

Elevators were down the hall from reception.

The hallways and elevator lobby were clean and in good repair.

Grand Suite (1402)
There are 439 rooms including 21 suites at the hotel.

The suite opened with a small foyer.

The living room was straight ahead. It held a couch, chairs, several tables, and a TV.

A mini-bar area held a refrigerator.

The refrigerator was empty for guest use.

A Keurig, coffee pods, cups, and condiments were on the counter.

The bedroom was off the living room.

The bedroom offered a king-sized bed, nightstands, a bench, a chair, and another TV.

The chair and a little table were near the window.

The TV was mounted to the wall above a dresser.

The closet held robes, a safe, an iron, and an ironing board.

The view looked out at another hotel across the street.

The bathroom was next to the bedroom.

It was a good sized room that offered a vanity with a single sink, a toilet, and a glassed-in shower. The counter offered a good amount of space.

A bar of Balmain brand soap was on the counter.

A shelf held additional toiletries.

The toilet was well spaced in the room.

The glassed-in shower was spacious with good water temperature and pressure.

Balmain brand shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were mounted to the wall.

Grand Club Lounge
The Grand Club was open for breakfast, snacks during the day, and appetizers in the evening. I spent some time working in here during the day and had the entire place to myself. I was unable to get back in the evening or the morning.

It was a comfortable space that’s nicely appointed.

I had my pick of every seat.

A buffet lined one wall. It held snacks throughout the day.

Packaged snacks and cookies were on offer during my visit.

Soft drinks and yogurts were also available.

A coffee machine was there for guest use.

Wine, hard liquor, and beer were for sale in the evening.

A computer and printer were also available in the Grand Club.

Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel has a fitness center, an outdoor pool (pictured above), meeting space, the zen garden, an ATM, a market, and several dining outlets.

The entire area around the pool was quiet.

The fitness center is on the same floor. It was busy, so I could not take too many photos. I liked that it did have Peloton Bikes.

Towels and water were provided.

The ATM was on the lower level.

The market sold snacks and drinks.
Overall Impression:
I enjoyed my stay at the Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead and would definitely return. The hotel is beautiful, has lots of amenities, and the staff were all friendly. The signs were not the clearest to get to reception from where I was dropped off, but I found my way (just head up a floor) and know for next time.

I’ve stayed there before a few times and really like the hotel. The breakfast is a little mediocre for a Grand Hyatt but the restaurant adjacent to the lobby bar has surprisingly good food.
One tactic I’ve used before to take advantage of their reasonable weekend rates is to book through a Prive agent, getting the room category just below a suite. With the guaranteed one category upgrade that guarantees a suite. Add in the $100 food and beverage credit and free breakfast and it works out pretty well.
This is a great hotel. I say here quiet often for work. I’m sad they no longer offer bottles of water in the club lounge. You can still get it, but its more work than its worth. Work (bar tender) is the best.
