I had planned to spend the night at the Hyatt Place Cincinnati/Blue Ash (review here), but I did not trust the fire alarm (since it had already gone off multiple times and I needed a good night’s sleep). The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cincinnati Airport became my alternate and I’m happy I stayed close to the airport (just a few minutes walk across to the terminal) as I had an early flight.
Anthony’s Take: The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cincinnati Airport offers a good spot to stay overnight before an early morning departure. There is a 24-hour shuttle bus, but I found it just as easy to cross the street and walk into the terminal. I was a bit disappointed that I did not get a warm cookie at check-in. The gluten-free, prepackaged option tasted awful. The room was comfortable and I liked the design of the lobby. I’d stay here again if I needed to be near Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).
Booking
I booked a King Bed (Non-Smoking) on an “Flexible” rate. The nightly cash rate was $178 plus taxes and fees. Hilton offers award redemptions starting at 45,000 points for a standard room.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
I took an Uber Comfort from the Hyatt Place Cincinnati/Blue Ash. It cost $59 and the ride took around 33 minutes. The next morning, I walked into Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).
Location
The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cincinnati Airport is located directly across the street from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).
I liked the design of the lobby. It was spacious and had a fun travel theme.
Check-in
I arrived at the hotel around 11:00 PM and were promptly checked in. The check-in desk is to the right of the entrance. DoubleTree is known for its warm cookies for guests at check-in. An oven is behind the reception desk. There were none when I arrived.
I was instead given a gluten-free version. I took a bite and spit it out. Not good. The agent was friendly and printed my keys a moment later.
The elevators were down a long hallway past the pool, fitness center, and some event spaces.
The elevator lobby and hallway on my floor were clean and in good repair.
King Bed (Non-Smoking) (601)
There are 177 rooms and suites at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cincinnati Airport.
The room opened with a small hallway/foyer.
A large mirror was near the door.
The bathroom was located across from here. It held a vanity with a single sink, a toilet, and a shower/tub combo (never a fan of these).
The vanity offered a good amount of counter space.
A bar of Crabtree & Evelyn brand soap and some other amenities were on the counter.
A bottle of lotion was mounted to the wall near the sink.
The toilet was situated pretty tightly between the vanity and the bathtub.
The shower offered decent water pressure and the temperature was fine.
Shampoo, soap, and body wash were mounted to the wall.
A vanity was located close to the bathroom.
It held an iron and ironing board as well as an ice bucket, glasses, and the safe.
A giant desk and the TV filled the rest of the wall.
The refrigerator was found here.
A coffeemaker, coffee, cups, bottled water, and condiments were on the desk.
The king-sized bed and two nightstands were located across from the desk.
A chair and ottoman were in the corner near the windows.
Public Areas & Amenities
The DoubleTree by Hilton Cincinnati Airport offers the seating above, a market (pictured), an indoor pool, a fitness center, an ATM, a restaurant, a business center, and meeting/event space.
The pool was next to the fitness center and smelled like strong chlorine.
Towels were available there.
The fitness center was kind of sparse, but it did have a Peloton.
Towels and water were on offer.
The business center is off of the lobby. It offered several computers and a printer along with an ATM.
I thought the chess set in the lobby was cute.
Coffee was set up for guests in the morning.
Overall Impression:
The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cincinnati Airport is a great choice if you need to be near the airport. It has all that you’ll need for a layover.
