I had a quick, one-night trip to New York planned for a business dinner. Room rates were pretty steep the night that I needed to be in Manhattan, so some of my usual haunts like the W New York Times Square (review here) and the Andaz 5th Avenue, by Hyatt were out. I had stayed at the Delta Hotels New York Time Square location a few years ago when it opened in 2023 and knew it would be fine for the night.
Anthony’s Take: It’s not the most glamorous hotel, but it gets the job done. My room was clean and comfortable. I really like the concept of the Delta Pantry and while I did not have any snacks, it was great for grabbing water and other beverages.
Booking
I booked a Guest Room, 1 King on a “Member Flexible Rate.” It was $353 per night plus taxes and fees. There is no destination fee. Marriott did away with award charts a few years ago, but redemptions for a standard room can be had for between 60,000 and 84,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points.
Transportation to/from the Hotel
I took an Uber Comfort from New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) to the hotel and back the next day to head home. The ride there took around 30 minutes (it’s around 9.8 miles) and cost $81. Departing, the ride was a little shorter and cost $77.
Location
The hotel is located around the corner from the Port Authority bus station and everything in Times Square. There are tons of restaurants, stores, and attractions right outside your door. The block is not the most savory, but it does not feel unsafe either.
The lobby is tiny and mostly filled by the restaurant. There is limited seating across from reception.
Check-In
I arrived at the hotel around 2:30 PM. The check-in desk was to the left of the entrance. My room was ready. I asked if any upgrades were available and was informed that I was upgraded to a Premium Guest Room on a higher floor. The hotel does not have any suites. The agent asked if I needed a late checkout and I took her up on a 2:00 PM departure. I chose points as my welcome amenity for being Titanium Elite. I had my keys printed a moment later.
The elevators are straight ahead from reception. There were too many people near the lobby elevators for a good photo. The hallway on my floor was tight, but in good shape and kept clean.
Premium Guest Room (2401)
There are 310 rooms at the hotel.
The room opened with a small closet area to the left. It held a steamer and room for luggage.
The coffeemaker, coffee, condiments, and cups were on a nearby counter.
A safe and an empty refrigerator were found in the cabinet below.
The bed, a small couch, and two nightstands filled most of the room.
A desk filled the corner.
A TV was mounted nearby.
The view was mostly of the building across the street.
The bathroom was on the small side with a tiny vanity, toilet, and shower/tub combo (which I hate).
The vanity had next to no counter space.
There were two bars of Soapbox brand soap as well as body lotion.
The toilet was tightly wedged between the sink and tub. I am not a fan of shower/tub combos. The water temperature was fine, but the pressure was not great.
More Soapbox toiletries were mounted to the shower wall.
Public Areas & Amenities
The hotel has a fitness center, a small market near the front desk (pictured above), a restaurant, the Delta Pantry, and some seating.
The restaurant fills most of the lobby.
The Delta Pantry and the fitness center are located one level below the lobby.
The Delta Pantry offers snacks and beverages throughout the day for elite members.
Everything inside is complimentary.
Snacks, croissants, and fruit
A water dispenser
There was a coffee machine for guest use.
Tea, cups, and condiments
Bagels, muffins, cookies, and chips
Chips and cookies
Cereal
More chips
Ice cream
Beverages
The fitness center was down the hall.
It offered a good amount of cardio equipment.
There were also some other machines and free weights.
Water and towels were provided.
Overall Impression:
The Delta Hotels New York Times Square was what I needed for the night. It’s conveniently located and I enjoy the access to the Delta Pantry. I would stay again for the right price.
