Two icons of exploration, Holland America Line and Pan Am®, are joining forces to bring travelers a one-of-a-kind journey celebrating the glamour and legacy of aviation’s Golden Age. The 28-Day Pan Am 100th Anniversary Legendary Voyage will sail aboard the Zuiderdam on October 30, 2027. It will retrace some of the routes once flown by Pan Am’s legendary “flying boats” across the Caribbean, Mexico, and Latin America.
Departing from Miami, Pan Am’s historic home base, the month-long voyage follows the airline’s pioneering Great Circle Route, which once linked far-flung island nations and major ports throughout the region. Guests will visit 18 destinations, nearly half of which were featured on Pan Am’s original itineraries, combining maritime exploration with the aviation spirit that helped shape modern travel.
The itinerary begins with stops in Nassau, Bahamas, and RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay (Holland America’s private island retreat), before continuing to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and several of Pan Am’s most iconic destinations: Santo Domingo, San Juan, Charlotte Amalie, St. John’s, Castries, and Port of Spain. Guests will then sail onward to Willemstad, Curaçao, Oranjestad, Aruba, and the Colombian ports of Santa Marta and Cartagena, before continuing north to Colón, Panama, Puerto Limón, Costa Rica, Belize City, Cozumel, and Progreso (Mérida), Mexico.
These ports were once key stops for Pan Am’s Clipper aircraft. These seaplanes connected the Americas in an era when long-range air travel was still in its infancy. The Zuiderdam’s itinerary captures that same pioneering spirit by offering an immersive exploration of each destination’s culture, cuisine, and heritage while honoring the innovation that defined early global aviation.
Throughout the voyage, guests will experience the glamour and sophistication of travel’s golden era, brought to life through period-inspired design, themed dining, and curated onboard programming. Special events will celebrate Pan Am’s 100-year legacy, which offers travelers a sense of nostalgia and discovery as they sail through the same waters once charted by the airline’s historic flying boats.
The partnership between Holland America Line and Pan Am® also plays a part in the cruise line’s upcoming America’s 250th anniversary celebrations, which include a commemorative Independence Day voyage from Boston on July 4, 2026. This broader initiative highlights Holland America Line’s connections to iconic American brands and its continued dedication to preserving the country’s rich travel legacy.
Guests booking the Pan Am 100th Anniversary Legendary Voyage with Holland America Line’s Have It All premium package can enjoy a suite of included amenities such as shore excursions, specialty dining, a Signature Beverage Package, and Surf Wi-Fi, plus free prepaid crew appreciation and upgrades to the Elite Beverage Package and Premium Wi-Fi. Members of the Mariner Society loyalty program can also receive up to $400 onboard credit per stateroom as part of an early booking bonus.
The 28-day journey represents more than just a cruise, it’s a tribute to an era when travel was an event in itself. By honoring Pan Am’s legacy of elegance, adventure, and innovation, Holland America Line invites guests to relive the excitement of discovery while enjoying the comfort and sophistication that define modern cruising.
Paul Grigsby, Vice President of Itinerary Planning and Deployment for Holland America Line, said:
Pan Am® and Holland America Line both helped pioneer modern travel—Pan Am® in the skies and Holland America Line at sea. With roots that reach back more than a century, both brands share a legacy of connecting people to the world with impeccable service and a spirit of discovery. This collaboration is a tribute to the golden age of travel and humanity’s enduring drive to explore. We’re thrilled for our guests to discover new destinations and cultures along this extraordinary itinerary, all while savoring the journey itself—immersed in the nostalgia, comfort and sense of exploration that define a truly legendary voyage.”
Anthony’s Take: I’m not a huge fan of cruises, but this one looks so cool. The Pan Am 100th Anniversary Legendary Voyage seems to capture the glamour of the glory days of flying.
