Back in February, I wrote about how Hilton and Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ (SLH) were entering into a partnership. This strategic partnership ended the Hyatt deal that was in place for years. Hilton has been incorporating many of the SLH properties into its systems and it now offers access to more than 400 of them.

Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ (SLH) offer boutique luxury and are often found in places where there is not a major operator like Hilton, Hyatt, or Marriott. I’ve stayed at many through the years and love the experience, overall. These are not cookie cutter hotels either. Some are restored mansions, farmhouses, and other spaces that now make for great hotels.

With the recent additions, some of my favorites are now on the list. These include:

  • Nido, Mar-Bella Collection (full review here). I loved staying at this resort in Corfu, Greece.
  • The Excelsior Hotel (full review here). This city hotel was the perfect outpost for exploring Thessaloniki.
  • Grand Hotel Angiolieri is a lovely hotel near the Amalfi Coast.

SLH Benefits

It’s now possible to earn and redeem Hilton Honors points at all of the hotels found here. There are many on the list that I will be booking in the future. Here is what is offered to elite members based on status:

  • Member: Guaranteed member discount, complimentary standard Wi-Fi, complimentary late checkout, bottled water or hydration per stay, no resort fees on reward stays
  • Silver: All of the above, plus 20% Elite Tier Bonus, and 5th standard reward night free
  • Gold: All of the above, plus 80% Elite Tier Bonus, continental breakfast (for two guests), and space-available upgrades
  • Diamond: All of the above, plus 100% Elite Tier Bonus

With the latest batch of hotels added to the partnership, Hilton also clarified the breakfast benefit for Gold and Diamond members. It used to read “breakfast,” but the word continental was now added. We’ll see how this changes what hotels offer guests, but I see it as a downgrade as many were providing a full, hot breakfast.

Anthony’s Take: I was sad when the partnership with Hyatt dissolved, but am happy that it shifted to Hilton where we can now earn and redeem points for these great hotels. I hope Hilton keeps adding to the list.
