Hilton and Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ (SLH) entered into a partnership last year. This strategic agreement ended the Hyatt deal that was in place for years. Hilton has incorporated around 450 SLH properties into its systems and provided benefits to elite members since the agreement started. Now, it has further defined the upgrade benefits for Gold and Diamond members when staying at these hotels.
Some of my favorite SLH properties are now on the list. These include:
- Nido, Mar-Bella Collection (full review here). I loved staying at this resort in Corfu, Greece.
- The Excelsior Hotel (full review here). This city hotel was the perfect outpost for exploring Thessaloniki.
- Grand Hotel Angiolieri is a lovely hotel near the Amalfi Coast.
It’s possible to earn and redeem Hilton Honors points at all of the hotels found here. There are many on the list that I will be booking in the future. Here is what is offered to elite members based on status:
- Member: Guaranteed member discount, complimentary standard Wi-Fi, complimentary late checkout, bottled water or hydration per stay, no resort fees on reward stays
- Silver: All of the above, plus 20% Elite Tier Bonus, and 5th standard reward night free
- Gold: All of the above, plus 80% Elite Tier Bonus, continental breakfast (for two guests), and
Space-available upgrades to the next-best available room type as determined at time of check-in - Diamond: All of the above, plus 100% Elite Tier Bonus
Gold and Diamond members now are eligible to receive space-available upgrades to the next-best available room type as determined at time of check-in. This used to read “space available upgrades.” The new language might make upgrades stingier or could remind some properties to actually upgrade eligible members. This is not the first time that Hilton has tweaked the benefits. In the past, it clarified the breakfast benefit for Gold and Diamond members. It initially read “breakfast,” but the word “continental” was later added.
Anthony’s Take: Let’s see if this makes upgrades better or worse at SLH properties. I love so many of these hotels and there are many more to discover.
