United Airlines has been offering the ability to preorder meals in domestic First Class for several years. It has also been testing adding this capability to its international Business Class on a trial basis for some time and the great news is that it is rolling it out systemwide across all Polaris® flights.

Matthew from Live and Let’s Fly broke the news that United is finally rolling this out. An internal memo that he shared reads:

This expansion included adding dynamic preorder to 226 unique segments and 70 catering locations to help advance our service offerings for our most valued customers.

This innovative service enables premium cabin customers to select from the scheduled entrees in advance. By boarding the precise number of preordered items and maintaining standard ratios for other entrees, we ensure efficiency and customer satisfaction!”

United Preorder

Meals ordered in advance make life easier for flight attendants and also ensure that customers are satisfied. I’ve always found it tacky that Business Class passengers had to give their first, second, and in some cases third choices when choosing meals while on the aircraft.

Anthony’s Take: In the words of Lizzo, “it’s about damn time.” I’m excited to be able to preorder my meal on Polaris® flights and am happy United finally rolled this out systemwide.
