As I wrote about earlier this week, I am in Toronto. While heading home today from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), I was dreading a long line of confused infrequent travelers and the time suck that would represent. Surprisingly, Global Entry was open. I was third in line and through in about 15 seconds.
The airport posted on X a few days ago that Global Entry was open, but I wasn’t sure if that was accurate or if it would still be the case today.

My American Airlines flight delayed, which meant I would have missed my connection. Thankfully, I booked a backup flight on Air Canada. I took the train from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1 and had to go back through security and immigration. Luckily, this was only a few minutes and Global Entry was kind of open here. The machines were not working, but the line put me in front of all of the other passengers.
Anthony’s Take: I’m wondering if this was an anomaly or if it is back. Has anyone had experience at a US airport over the past few days?

I believe it’s something to do with preclearance airports, like those in Canada and Ireland. Those airports still have Global Entry active (I may totally be wrong, but that’s what I have been led to believe).
That seems logical.
Seems like an anomaly. Can confirm GE was closed at JFK T4 and ORD T5 yesterday.
That sucks.
