Frontier Airlines made some more tweaks to its route map this week. It appears the low-cost carrier is taking an axe to New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and cancelling nine of the 10 routes it offered to/from the NYC airport.

Route cancellations include:

  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) (ends March 31st) (the route is still served by American, Delta, and JetBlue)
  • Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) (already ended) (the route is still served by American and Delta)
  • Denver International Airport (DEN) (already ended) (the route is still served by Delta and JetBlue)
  • Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) (already ended) (the route is still served by American, Delta, and JetBlue)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) (already ended) (the route is still served by American, Delta, and JetBlue)
  • Miami International Airport (MIA) (ends April 13th) (the route is still served by American and Delta)
  • Orlando International Airport (MCO) (ends April 13th) (the route is still served by Delta and JetBlue)
  • San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) (ends March 5th) (the route is still served by Delta and JetBlue)
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA) (already ended) (the route is still served by Delta and JetBlue)

Frontier will continue to fly between New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).

Anthony’s Take: New York is a crowded market. There was not one of these cancelled routes that Frontier did not see at least two competitors flying.
