Frontier Airlines announced today that it’s adding flights to/from Seattle’s Paine Field International Airport (PAE). Initial routes include Denver International Airport (DEN), Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS), and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX).
The nonstop destinations launch today and will each run 2x weekly. These flights complement routes being served to/from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). There are seven routes being offered there, including:
- Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
- Denver International Airport (DEN)
- Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
- Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
- Ontario International Airport (ONT)
- Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX)
- Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC)
Jennifer de la Cruz, Senior Director of Corporate Communications at Frontier Airlines, said:
We are thrilled to launch our ultra-low cost service at PAE, unlocking more affordable and convenient travel options for consumers in the greater Seattle area and throughout Western Washington. We want to thank the team at PAE for their support and collaboration, and can’t wait to begin flying value-seeking travelers to Denver, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and the many exciting destinations we serve beyond.”
Alaska Airlines is the only other commercial airline flying to/from Seattle’s Paine Field International Airport (PAE). United Airlines used to fly there, but pulled out in 2021.
Anthony’s Take: Adding Seattle’s Paine Field International Airport (PAE) provides additional options and a more convenient airport for many Washington residents. Alaska has long held a monopoly here and a new player is a welcome change.

United flew to PAE but left.
Paine Field is a fine name. Adding Seattle to make it Seattle Paine Field is ok. The new name is stupid, Seattle Paine Field International Airport. The use of the word “International” is overused and silly. The word “international” should be mostly used when there was a smaller, old airport but when a newer, larger airport with international air service was built. An example might be Chicago O’Hare International Airport. Another might be Philadelphia International Airport to distinguish it from Northeast Philadelphia Airport.
Hopefully it will not become the Seattle Paine Field Martin Luther King, Jr. Joseph Sutter International Airport. It would be almost faster to drive to SEA than to say the full name.
