Last week, I wrote about Frontier Airlines adding 23 new routes to its network. Now, it’s continuing to build its presence in the Delta megahub that is Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) with the launch of six new routes this month. With these additions, Frontier will now offer nonstop service to 61 destinations from the airport and likely annoy Delta in the process.

The expansion includes new flights to St. Maarten, The Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, and two destinations in Mexico, along with new not-so-beachy service to Milwaukee. As it does with most new routes, Frontier is offering discounted introductory fares starting as low as $49. New routes to/from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) include:

  • Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) (2x weekly; starts on December 19th)
  • Nassau’s Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) (1x weekly; started on December 13th)
  • Turks and Caicos’ Providenciales International Airport (PLS) (1x weekly; starts on December 20th)
  • Puerto Vallarta’s Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR) (1x weekly; starts on December 20th)
  • Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) (1x weekly; starts on December 20th)
  • Saint Martin’s Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) (1x weekly; started on December 6th)

Josh Flyr, Vice President of Network and Operations Design at Frontier Airlines, said:

There’s a lot to be excited about as the new year approaches – from our expanding network to rolling out our First Class experience – and we’re thrilled to offer travelers even more affordable flight options from Atlanta as we continue to grow.”

Anthony’s Take: Delta Air Lines offers multiple daily flights on each of these routes. Frontier will likely bring some price pressure, so Delta flyers should look for some cheaper fares in the months to come.
