Flying Blue, the loyalty program of Air France and KLM, made a change to its benefits this past week. Flying Blue Platinum and Ultimate members no longer receive complimentary Comfort+ seating when flying with Delta Air Lines.
This downgrade was first reported by LoyaltyLobby and it appears as Flying Blue has completely removed the Delta Air Lines section (shown above) from its site. Flying Blue Silver and Gold members no longer receive a discount on Comfort+ seats while Platinum and Ultimate members no longer receive complimentary access.
The policy change does not appear to impact Delta Medallion members flying Air France or KLM. Delta Diamond and Platinum Medallion members receive complimentary Air France Seat Plus preferred seating at no charge. Gold Medallions receive a discount of 50% and Silver Medallions receive a discount of 25%. KLM Front Section Seats, Comfort Plus, and Extra Legroom seats are complimentary for Diamond and Platinum members. Gold and Silver Medallion members receive complimentary Standard seating.
Anthony’s Take: This is a big downgrade for elites from Air France and KLM. One has to wonder if Flying Blue will strike back with what it offers Delta Medallion members in the future.
