Finnair will return to Canada in May 2026 with flights to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). It’s been 11 years since the Finnish carrier last connected Canada with Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL).

The returning route will run 3x weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays,  and Saturdays using Airbus A330-300 aircraft. These offer 28 Business Class, 21 Premium Economy, and 230 Economy Class seats. In addition to Toronto, Finnair will offer nonstop flights to the following North American cities:

  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
  • Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
  • New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)

Four of the five US cities are also American Airlines’ hubs. This makes for easy connections with Finnair’s oneworld® partner across the United States, Mexico, and South America.

Christine Rovelli, Finnair’s Chief Revenue Officer, said:

We are excited to grow our North American network and bring Canada back as a destination. Toronto is a popular travel destination and offers especially our European customers great connections also to other parts of Canada.”

Anthony’s Take: This is not a surprising move for Finnair. Europeans are presently shying away from US travel and Canadians are doing the same. It’s good that Finnair will once again have a nonstop connection between Finland and Canada.
