Back in June 2024, I wrote about how Fiji Airways would be adopting American AAdvantage® as its loyalty program this year. The South Pacific airline will officially make the switch tomorrow with seamless integration and benefits as a result. This is exciting news for both Fiji Airways (the newest oneworld® member) and American flyers.
Frequent flyers with American AAdvantage® status will see priority check-in, priority boarding, complimentary baggage, pre-reserved seats, lounge access, bonus miles, and more when flying Fiji Airways.
Fiji Airways serves 25 destinations in 14 countries from its hub at Nadi International Airport (NAN). It offers nonstop service from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), San Francisco International Airport (SFO), and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) in the United States and Canada.
The AAdvantage® program launched in 1981 and is the longest-running travel rewards program in the world.
Andre Viljoen, Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, said:
We are delighted to join the American AAdvantage® program, marking a new chapter for Fiji Airways and offering more opportunities for our loyal customers to experience the magic of Fiji. This partnership will provide a seamless travel experience, making it easier for travelers to reach Fiji’s tropical paradise while enjoying enhanced benefits. With our new membership in the oneworld® alliance, we look forward to offering greater connectivity to destinations around the globe, including the US, and welcoming more visitors to experience the warmth, culture, and beauty of Fiji.”
American Airlines Vice President of Partnerships, Anmol Bhargava, added:
The partnership between American and Fiji Airways is giving customers more ways to unlock new travel experiences. As part of the AAdvantage® program, members flying on either airline can immediately enjoy an elevated travel experience. Travel is better as an AAdvantage® member, and American extends a very warm welcome to Fiji Airways customers joining the program.”
Anthony’s Take: Fiji Airways joining AAdvantage® is a good idea for the carrier. American will bring it new customers and the mileage earning and redemptions will be an interesting add.

I just checked DFW-SIN and LAX-SIN for 2 pax in business on AA and came up with zero award availability to the end of schedule. I figured that Fiji would have some dates available being new but no dice. Not exactly an entry with a bang.
Maybe check tomorrow (April 1st) as that is the official entry day.
