An argument between four adults quickly turned violent yesterday at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX). Two women and two men began arguing. This quickly led to three people being shot and one stabbed on Christmas Day at the airport.
Phoenix police say that the argument occurred around 9:45 PM at an airport restaurant outside of Terminal 4’s security checkpoint. Terminal 4 houses Air France, American Airlines, British Airways, Condor Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Volaris, and WestJet.
ABC News reports that the two men who were shot are reportedly in stable condition while the woman is in critical condition. Another woman who was stabbed is also stable. Phoenix Police Sargeant Mayra Reeson shared the following statement with reporters:
I do believe that this was a family dispute that escalated. Of course this was scary, this was Christmas evening, everybody’s trying to get home.”
The incident led to the temporary closure of a security checkpoint in Terminal A, some restaurants, and the terminal’s PHX Sky Train station. No details have been released around their identities, why the group was at the airport, what they argued about, or whether they were scheduled to travel.
Unrelated, a man showed up at the airport believing that their was an active shooter situation. He brought a firearm, got into an argument with a police officer, and was arrested inside the airport.
Anthony’s Take: This is definitely not the holiday spirit. I’ve gotten into arguments with family, but have never been possessed to shoot them.
