Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines introduced a new combined loyalty program known as Atmos™ Rewards today. This powerful new offering combines the best of Alaska’s Mileage Plan and Hawaiian’s HawaiianMiles into one enhanced platform. It has been designed to unlock more choice, more rewards, and more global access.

This first-of-its-kind program allows its members to choose how they earn points and status when flying. They can opt to earn by distance traveled, price paid, or segments flown. It’s a global airline industry first and it gives travelers flexibility to match their earning style to their travel habits. There is no one-size-fits-all traveler and this loyalty program is also all about options.

Key Highlights of Atmos Rewards

  • Flexible earning options will begin in 2026. Members can choose to earn by:
    1. Distance Traveled: earn one point per mile flown.
    2. Price Paid: earn 5x points per $1 spent on fares and upgrades.
    3. Segments Flown: earn 500 points per segment.
  • Miles are becoming points in the new program. Members can redeem points for award travel starting at 4,500 points to over 1,000 destinations worldwide on Alaska, Hawaiian, and 30+ global airline partners, including oneworld® carriers.
  • New Elite Tiers: MVP, MVP Gold, MVP Gold 75K, and MVP Gold 100K are becoming Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Titanium. Benefits by level remain the same.
  • Members earn points with Lyft (2x points per $1 on standard rides; 3x points per $1 on airport and elevated rides), hotels, car rentals, and more. Later this year, Atmos™ Rewards Unlocked will offer exclusive access to events and curated travel experiences.
  • The new Atmos™ Rewards Summit Visa Infinite® Card (co-branded with Bank of America) accelerates progress toward status, offering one status point for every $2 spent, plus a Global Companion Award.
  • Milestone rewards: Status points unlock perks earlier and more often (starting at 10,000 status points).
  • Elite Upgrades: Atmos Titanium members will receive complimentary day-of-departure upgrades into global Business Class for themselves and a companion, without requiring points or certificates. This is unheard of in every other US airline’s program. Status holders will also enjoy complimentary upgrades on Hawaiian Airlines flights within North America beginning next spring.
  • Members can opt into communities that reflect their lifestyle, such as Huakaʻi by Hawaiian for Hawaii residents or Club 49 for Alaskans. Future groups will include family travel, wellness, and more.
  • Alaska and Hawaiian will equip their fleets with ultra-fast Starlink Wi-Fi. Atmos™ Rewards members will enjoy free streaming connectivity starting in 2026.

Transition Details

As of today, all Mileage Plan members are now Atmos™ Rewards members with the same account numbers and benefits. HawaiianMiles members will transition automatically on October 1st. One mile equals one Atmos™ Rewards point (with no change in value and no expiration). Alaska Airlines Visa® cards are being rebranded as Atmos Rewards Visa® cards with no change to benefits. Hawaiian Airlines World Elite Mastercard® will continue unchanged.

A New Identity, A New Era

According to Alaska Airlines, the name Atmos™ Rewards evokes the atmosphere and the promise of “most.” More rewards, more destinations, and more choice will all be part of the program. Its new visual identity blends the blue of Alaska with the purple and pink of Hawaiian (symbolizing a unified program). Atmos Rewards continues Alaska’s tradition of generosity (U.S. News & World Report ranked the airline loyalty program number one for 11 consecutive years). Brett Catlin, Vice President of Loyalty, Alliances, and Sales at Alaska Airlines, said:

Atmos Rewards is designed to set a new standard for airline loyalty – more generous, more flexible and easier to use, whether members are flying across the globe or just across the Islands. With the combination of Alaska and Hawaiian, we seized a rare opportunity to imagine how we could make the most generous loyalty program even better. With industry-first features like customizable ways to earn and unique benefits tailored to how people travel, we’re giving our guests more control, more value and more reasons to engage.”

Anthony’s Take: Wow is all that I can say. Alaska is giving travelers choices in how they earn elite status, upgrades to international Business Class without using miles or another instrument is unheard of, and the program overall seems incredibly generous. Kudos to Alaska for creating a loyalty program worth being excited about.
