The New Terminal One at New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) has announced a strategic partnership with Ethiopian Airlines. It’s the latest carrier to announce a move during this historic expansion. Ethiopian Airlines is the flag carrier of Ethiopia and a member of Star Alliance. It will relocate its operations from Terminal 7 to the New Terminal One when the facility opens in 2026.
From its hub in Addis Ababa, Ethiopian Airlines offers extensive connections across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Its move to the New Terminal One will enhance access for travelers flying between the United States and these regions. The partnership is expected to strengthen links between North America and emerging markets, particularly across Africa, where Ethiopian Airlines maintains one of the continent’s largest networks.
The New Terminal One is a cornerstone of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s $19 billion redevelopment of New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK). The project aims to transform the airport into a modern, world-class hub with upgraded infrastructure and passenger experience. When complete, the terminal will feature advanced technology, expanded dining and retail options, and a design focused on efficiency, sustainability, and traveler comfort. The first gates are scheduled to open in 2026 (with a phased rollout to follow).
Ethiopian Airlines will become part of a growing lineup of international airlines set to operate from the New Terminal One. Other carriers include Air China, Air France, China Eastern, KLM, Korean Air, Etihad Airways, EGYPTAIR, LOT Polish Airlines, Korean Air, EVA Air, Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways, SAS, and Air New Zealand, among others. This concentration of global airlines is expected to create a highly connected international hub, offering seamless travel options across multiple continents.
