Delta Air Lines announced today that it is once again restarting flights between New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV). This is the latest announced date that Delta is returning to Israel after many starts and stops due to the ongoing conflict in the region.
After the terrorist attack on October 7th back in 2023, US airlines suspended service to Tel Aviv. Dates for resumption started, stopped, and have kept getting pushed by American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines since then. Once it resumes, Delta will operate the route daily using Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. These offer 29 Delta One®, 28 Premium Select, 56 Comfort+, and 168 Main Cabin seats.
United Airlines’ flights between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport (TLV) are currently flying. Once Delta resumes, they will be the second US carrier offering nonstop flights. El Al (Delta’s partner) has offered flights consistently throughout the past two years.
Anthony’s Take: Delta’s resumption will hopefully stick and those needing to get between the United States and Israel will have a returning option. El Al fares were sky high when they were the only option, but this seems to be normalizing with some choices.
