Delta Air Lines announced today that it is rolling out a refresh of the interior cabins across its entire fleet. This overhaul includes new seats, lighting, brand motifs, and design elements across cabins along with a new, dark and sleek color palette that replaces Delta’s bright blue with darker blue, grey, and black.
The new interior will debut just before Delta’s centennial anniversary. Delta is saying that the design will feel “premium” while making “customers feel at home during their travels.” The color palette is being reimagined with softer, warmer, and more modern colors along with natural materials such as wool.
Mauricio Parise, Delta’s Vice President of Customer Experience Design, said:
Delta has a 100-year history of creating a customer experience that feels welcoming and thoughtful with intentional design elements woven into every aspect of a customer’s travel. As we embark on our next century of flying, this refreshed cabin interior infuses utility with beauty to create an atmosphere that feels fresh, elevated, and timeless while reflecting our customers’ evolving tastes and expectations.
Every flight is different, so we’ve focused on creating warm, calming and atmospheric lighting options that create an environment for customers to rest and relax, or stay productive as they wish. For boarding, we’ve focused on the ‘moment of deceleration’ – warm and inviting lighting that makes the cabin appear spacious and open. At mealtimes, we queue hues that feel like you’re at a candlelit dinner – making meals more natural and inviting. As the lights dim for sleep, we borrow from the sunset and slowly remove blue light while bringing in warm amber tones which are reminiscent of a sunset glow. When it’s time to wake up, the cabin slowly brightens into morning and daylight.
Delta has taken the time to develop every detail of our new interiors; the team was intentional in creating an experience that mimics our customers’ lifestyles and puts them at ease as soon as they board our aircraft. We look forward to sharing our hard work with our customers and welcoming them onboard.”
Updated Cabins
- Delta One®: New fabric seats made from a wool-nylon blend and designed for better temperature regulation will be installed. These will also include a headrest made from comfortable engineered leather.
- Premium Select and First Class: These cabins will be updated with new seats featuring engineered leather covers over memory foam cushions for additional comfort.
- Comfort+ and Main Cabin: New engineered leather seat covers with signature stitching and accent stripes will be installed. Widebody aircraft will also see foam cushions installed.
Lavatories will also be refreshed with bright walls and an accent wall opposite the mirror in the Celestial Sky pattern. Cabinets in the lavatories will be a modern Azure Blue color. The flooring is made from a smooth material with specks of color.
The new design will first roll out on a Boeing 757-200 later this fall. In early 2025, an Airbus A350 will begin flying long-haul international routes in the new color palette. Additional aircraft will be refitted over the next several years.
Anthony’s Take: The new branding and color palette is sexy. I’m not sure that it screams Delta to me, but it definitely feels upscale and modern.

About time they updated the interior. The blue and white with tons of plastic and no natural (looking) textures gives it the feeling of a hospital. Sterile and cold.
