Delta flyers who have been enjoying the complimentary Premium Select seats on flights between New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) will only have a few more months to enjoy these freebies. The airline announced this week that beginning on September 10th, Premium Select seats will be sold on some of these transcontinental flights with all 11 daily departures having this cabin available and for sale by November.
The Atlanta-based carrier operates as many as 11 daily flights in each direction between New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). These are operated with Boeing 767 aircraft that have four cabins installed: Delta One®, Premium Select, Comfort+®, and Main Cabin. Until September 10th, passengers can book Comfort+® and snag a Premium Select seat.
Delta Premium Select offers passengers a wider seat with additional recline and an adjustable footrest/leg rest. When it goes on sale, other premium amenities like a memory-foam pillow, noise-canceling headsets, a blanket, and an amenity kit from Someone Somewhere will be included. Meal choices will include selections from Union Square Events and Jon & Vinny’s. Options like Braised Turkey Meatballs with Arrabbiata Sauce, Mashed Potatoes and Sautéed Kale sound quite tasty.
Delta Premium Select passengers are also eligible for Sky Priority® service, which includes dedicated check-in and baggage handling as well as boarding in Zone 2. SkyMiles Medallion members are eligible for upgrades into these seats in addition to day-of-departure upgrades to Delta One® on domestic routes.
Anthony’s Take: Passengers had a good run in getting these seats for free. They’re equivalent to a little bit nicer domestic First Class seat and not a bad way to travel.
