Vaping devices (vapes) and electronic cigarettes simulates smoking (tobacco or marijuana). Instead of inhaling smoke, users are breathing vapor from a cartridge or canister. Vapes have become the de rigueur accessory of Millennials and Gen Z and they are highly addictive. One recent passenger on a Delta Air Lines flight couldn’t even make it through boarding without using his vape.

Great_Significance_8 posted a video of a male passenger vaping just as he was about to board the plane from a jet bridge. If he couldn’t make it through boarding without vaping, I highly doubt he won’t do it in flight (the poster said the flight was 4.5 hours).
If you’ve been on a flight at any time in recent memory, you’l hear safety briefings and flight attendants say that smoking, vaping, and the use of e-cigarettes is not allowed on the flight. Deltalina famously reminded us all of this in Delta’s old safety video. I have seen passengers vape, use chewing tobacco, and even smoke in flight. In all instances, flight attendants warned the individuals and they behaved after.
A Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) spokesperson released a general statement in the past saying:
FAA regulations prohibit smoking, including the use of electronic cigarettes, on board airliners. Passengers who violate federal vaping laws could face fines up to $1,771.”
Anthony’s Take: I was a smoker for over 20 years and never smoked on an airplane. It’s time to think about quitting if you can’t even make it down the jet bridge without a puff. No word was released if this passenger did any more vaping in flight.

Much ado about nothing. I think that vaping on a flight as long as the mist is odorless and not set to spew vapor like a dragon is fine since it eases the stress of the person which eases the stress overall on the flight. I’d even go as far as permitting smoking on flights again.
I smoked 2-3 packs a day of cowboy killers for 30 years so I’m familiar with both sides. I miss the days of smoking on planes but I suppose a lot of that is just nostalgia.
