Delta Air Lines is speeding up its inflight experience with a new long-term partnership with Amazon to introduce cutting-edge satellite technology designed to deliver faster, more personalized digital experiences across its fleet. At the center of the agreement is Amazon Leo, a next-generation low-Earth orbit satellite network that will power high-speed, low-latency internet on Delta aircraft beginning in 2028.
Delta plans to install Amazon Leo technology on 500 aircraft as part of the initial rollout. The system is designed to provide seamless, streaming-quality internet that allows passengers to work, stream content, and stay connected from gate to gate. With enhanced upload capabilities, travelers will also be able to share photos, videos, and large files in real time while in the air.
The partnership builds on Delta’s existing Delta Sync platform, which integrates Wi-Fi, seatback entertainment, and personalized digital experiences. By combining Amazon Leo with Amazon Web Services and artificial intelligence, Delta aims to create a more connected and tailored travel journey from booking to arrival. The airline plans to use these technologies to enhance both customer-facing features and internal operations.
