The Delta One® Lounges are arguably the best airport lounges in the United States (my JFK review is here). From the luxe decor to the incredible food and beverage offerings, spa-like amenities, and more. It’s 39,000 square feet and that does not seem to be enough. But, when you have to wait in line just to get into the lounge, does it lose its appeal?

Over the busy Fourth of July holiday weekend the lounge was bursting at the seams. What was meant to be a calm, relaxing oasis before a long-haul flight turned into waiting in a queue that stretched across New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK). FlyerTalk member, @Cypriote, shared photos of the lengthy line. The question is: what can Delta do to lessen the crowding during peak times? Unfortunately, I think this will be further justification for the pending decoupling of benefits in Business Class (Delta One®) as a Basic Business fare is introduced.

Anthony’s Take: This was one of the busiest travel weekends ever and taken during peak time. That said, it’s not so luxurious when you have to stand in line to access the lounge and really takes away from the experience. I don’t think charging more or separately is the answer, but I’m not sure what will do it either.
