One of the worst parts of traveling to Europe is the timing. Almost all flights depart in the evening or at night, which means that you arrive at your destination in the morning. I can’t sleep on planes (regardless of what cabin I’m in) and most hotels will not have a room ready in the morning. Delta has a new flight coming in the spring that might solve these issues for New York-based flyers.
Delta Air Lines is launching a third daily flight from New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). It will depart New York at 8:30 AM and arrive at 10:00 PM. I love this as you can just go to your hotel, go to sleep, and wake up ready to go. Delta’s partners Air France and Virgin Atlantic have operated similar daytime flights from New York to Paris and London, but this is a first for the carrier.
Delta Air Lines plans to introduce a “daytime” New York (JFK) to Paris (CDG) flight starting March 31, 2024:
– DL266 Depart JFK 8:30 AM Arrive CDG 10:00 PM (Daily)
DL266 is operated with the Boeing 767-400ER. This should be Delta’s only “daytime” eastbound transatlantic flight.

United Airlines has long had a similar flight to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) that departs in the morning and arrives around 8:00 PM. When I’ve taken this flight I’ve landed, had something to eat, and went to sleep. Jetlag is a non-issue.
Anthony’s Take: I love this option and being able to land, get some rest, and then head out to explore or take a flight elsewhere. I wish more airlines offered these options.

Thanks for writing about this! I couldn’t agree more, flying to Europe in daylight hours is so much more humane than having to sleep on the plane and arrive the next morning. I wish more daytime flights to Europe were available
