Delta Air Lines is expanding its transcontinental network rom Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to key Florida destinations by adding a new route and increasing frequencies ahead of the winter travel season. The move reflects growing demand for coast-to-coast travel (particularly between Southern California and Florida’s major markets).

Delta will launch a new nonstop route between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) on November 20th. The flights will operate 1x daily using Airbus A321neo aircraft. These offer 20 Delta First, 60 Delta Comfort, and 114 Delta Main seats.

In addition to the new route, Delta is expanding capacity on two of its existing Florida routes. Flights between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Tampa International Airport (TPA) will increase from 2x to 3x daily departures starting on November 9th. Service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Orlando International Airport (MCO) will also grow from 4x to 5x daily flights on November 20th. These will also be flown with Airbus A321neo aircraft.

Amy Martin, Delta’s Vice President of Network Planning, said:

Los Angeles is one of our most important global gateways, and these additions give our customers more choice and flexibility across the network. With expanded Florida service and new routes to Hong Kong and Chicago coming this summer, we’re continuing to build a network at LAX that meets our customers’ needs and reflects Delta’s momentum in the region.”

Anthony’s Take: The Los Angeles to Florida market is highly competitive with American, JetBlue, and Unites vying for passengers across major cities. Delta’s latest moves signal an effort to deepen its presence and offer more flexibility for travelers while maintaining a strong foothold in one of the most important domestic long-haul markets in the United States.
