Last week, I wrote about how American Airlines was redefining the international travel experience with a new program that eliminates one of the biggest hassles for connecting passengers: clearing immigration/customs, collecting bags, and going back through security. This first-of-its-kind process, known as One Stop Security (OSS), enables international passengers arriving from London Heathrow Airport (LHR) and connecting through Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to clear US customs at their arrival gate without needing to claim and recheck checked bags or pass through TSA security. Now, Delta is offering the same experience for flights landing at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).
Traditionally, travelers connecting through a US airport after arriving from abroad must:
- Clear US Customs and Border Protection
- Retrieve checked bags
- Recheck their bags for the connecting flight
- Pass through TSA security again
Under the OSS program, passengers clear passport control and customs upon exiting the aircraft. Luggage is automatically transferred to their connecting flight and passengers are able to head directly to their gates. One Stop Security (OSS) is only available for connecting passengers and they must have Global Entry or be using the Mobile Passport app. I had no idea, but Delta has been offering this service since February for passengers traveling from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) with onward connections. The arrival service will begin tomorrow, July 30th.
Anthony’s Take: I love this and hope it expands to all international flights with connections as the current process is time consuming and just awful even with Global Entry if you have bags to check.

I gotta say, it is fun watching DL copy AA for once. AA is usually the one copying DL. And UA? Well, they need to shut up and get a decent contract for the FAs. Kirby is my least favorite airline guy ever. So even though I am an AA/oneworld gal, GO DELTA!!
