Delta Air Lines flew to 29 destinations from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) prior to the pandemic. That number got slashed over the past several years and currently, Delta flies to 19 destinations from the North Carolina city. It’s looking to rebuild its presence at the airport and just added another route to start on May 7th.
Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is a focus city for Delta Air Lines. Its proximity to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) likely means that it will never be a hub, but residents see lots of love from Delta as it holds the second largest marketshare at the airport. Currently, Delta flies the following routes to/from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU):
- Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)
- Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS)
- Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
- Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG)
- Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW)
- Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
- Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
- Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
- Miami International Airport (MIA)
- Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP)
- Nashville International Airport (BNA)
- Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
- New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
- New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
- Orlando International Airport (MCO)
- Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC)
- Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)
- Tampa International Airport (TPA)
- Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)
NEW: Delta Air Lines will launch a new route from Raleigh/Durham (RDU) to Kansas City (MCI).
RDU-MCI begins on May 7 with a daily CRJ-900:

Delta will launch a 20th route on May 7th. Daily flights to/from Kansas City International Airport (MCI) will be operated with a Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft with 12 First Class, 20 Comfort+, and 38 Main Cabin seats.
Anthony’s Take: I used to fly in and out of Raleigh at least once a month when I worked for a company based there. It’s a great airport and it has grown tons over the past few years. Let’s see if Delta gets back to pre-pandemic levels here.
