Delta Air Lines is giving the axe to its seasonal service between Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Anchorage’s Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) due to rising fuel costs.

The seasonal route was restarted in 2021 and had previously been flown by Northwest before Delta acquired the airline in 2009. It was set to begin for the season next month before being cancelled. Delta Air Lines will continue to serve Anchorage’s Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) from the following airports:

  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)
  • Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW)
  • Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP)
  • Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC)
  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)

Anthony’s Take: I wonder how many routes we will see cut as airlines work to adjust those that are not profitable as fuel costs continue to rise.
