Delta Air Lines considers Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) a focus city. Prior to the pandemic, the airline flew to 29 destinations from this growing North Carolina airport.

Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is not far from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and this likely means that it will never be a hub. Residents see lots of love from Delta as it holds the second largest marketshare at the airport and have become loyal flyers. Currently, Delta flies the following routes to/from Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU):

  • Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL)
  • Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS)
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
  • Cancún International Airport (CUN)
  • Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG)
  • Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW)
  • Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL)
  • Kansas City International Airport (MCI)
  • Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
  • Miami International Airport (MIA)
  • Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP)
  • Nashville International Airport (BNA)
  • Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR)
  • New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
  • New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA)
  • Orlando International Airport (MCO)
  • Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC)
  • Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)
  • Tampa International Airport (TPA)
  • Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA)

Delta is now bringing back flights between Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) and Indianapolis International Airport (IND) on August 11th. These will run 1x daily using Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft with 12 First Class, 20 Delta Comfort (formerly known as Comfort+), and 38 Delta Main Cabin seats.

Anthony’s Take: While it might not yet offer 29 routes to/from Raleigh again, Delta has come roaring back with 22 routes and the potential for more to return or be added in the future.
