Contour Airlines is back with some more new routes. I recently wrote about its flights connecting San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) and St. Thomas’ Cyril E. King Airport (STT) to Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) in Dominica. Now, the airline is adding another Caribbean route as well as one in the state of Illinois.
New nonstop service connecting San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) with St. Maarten’s Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) will begin on November 14th and run 3x weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. These flights will be operated with Contour’s fleet of Embraer ERJ-135 30-seat regional jet aircraft and will offer passengers:
- Generous extra legroom seating
- Complimentary snacks and beverages
- Personalized inflight service
Ben Munson, President of Contour Airlines, said:
We are excited to expand our Caribbean network with this new route between San Juan and St. Maarten. This service will provide a vital link between two important destinations, offering more travel options for leisure and business travelers alike, while strengthening regional connectivity.”
In addition to the new Caribbean route, Contour Airlines will also begin service in Illinois between Quincy Regional Airport (UIN) and Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) on November 1st. This will run 12x weekly also using Embraer ERJ-135 30-seat regional jet aircraft.
Munson added:
We are excited to announce the launch of our new service to Quincy, Illinois. We look forward to providing Quincy residents with more convenient, reliable, and affordable travel options.”
Anthony’s Take: Silver Airways departure has made the Caribbean ripe for the picking. The other Illinois route will be handled by government funds through Essential Air Service (EAS) contracts that bring flights to underserved communities.
