Cathay Pacific flight CX806 from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) diverted to Tokyo’s Narita International Airport (NRT) today after a passenger was disrupting fellow travelers and verbally abusing the cabin crew.

The South China Morning Post says that the passenger was reportedly intoxicated and would not listen to crew member instructions. Airport personnel removed the passenger at Tokyo’s Narita International Airport (NRT). The Airbus A350-1000 continued on its journey and passengers were hit with a two-hour delay.
Passengers getting drunk on planes is nothing new. I will never understand why passengers need to imbibe to the point of getting sloshed. Diversions make sense because in the worst cases they cause safety issues and harm other passengers and crew. Enjoying cocktails or wine is fine, but keep it together people.
Anthony’s Take: Thankfully, the crew took action and this resulted in only a two-hour delay. As selfish as this passenger’s actions were, it’s good that this was the extent of the incident.
