As I wrote about last month, the Chase Sapphire Lounge® by The Club in San Diego International Airport (SAN) opened today. The lounge is located after the security checkpoint in Terminal 2 between Gates 46 and 47 and open daily from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Chase has been opening new lounges at a pretty rapid pace lately. First came the location in Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) (full review here). February saw the opening of both New York LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) (full review here). In March, the Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) opened its doors (more here). A new location recently opened at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX).
The newest Chase Sapphire Lounge is the first West Coast location and spans more than 10,000 square feet. As with all Chase Sapphire Lounges, the interiors are inspired by local elements. At San Diego International Airport (SAN), guests will see surfboards designed by local muralist Hanna Daly and a digital wall displaying drone footage of the nearby coastline. The Southern California theme carries over into an à la carte menu by San Diego favorite Oscars Mexican Seafood and coffee from California’s Groundwork. A wine list curated by Parcelle, which is one of the country’s top wine retailers.
Guests can enjoy a wellness area with bookable private rest pods, on-demand digital meditations from wellness educator Devi Brown, and facial treatments from Face Haus, a women-owned facial bar that started in Los Angeles. The lounge also offers quiet workspaces, nursing and family rooms, private bathrooms, a shower, and high-speed Wi-Fi.
Access
Access is granted to those with a Priority Pass membership gained through carrying the Chase Sapphire Reserve® (cardholders can also bring two guests). If you hold the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, JP Morgan Reserve, or Ritz-Carlton card, you can enter an unlimited number of times, but if you have a Priority Pass membership from holding any other card, you’re limited to one visit per year (subsequent visits will be charged $75 each). Guest passes cost $100 for travelers that are not part of any Priority Pass program.
Anthony’s Take: I have generally enjoyed these lounges and am happy to see that there are more locations opening quickly. The food, drinks, and atmosphere is better than what I’ve found in American Express’ lounges lately. I look forward to checking this one out in the future.
