Cathay Pacific will introduce its first dedicated lounge at New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK), a long-anticipated upgrade that coincides with the carrier’s upcoming relocation to the newly rebuilt Terminal 6. The facility is targeting a mid-2026 debut and will serve as a major enhancement for premium travelers flying between New York and Hong Kong.

The new lounge will occupy roughly 10,000 square feet and accommodate close to 200 guests. Cathay plans to bring its signature residential design aesthetic by Ilse Crawford to New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to mirror the modern, warm, and understated style featured in its newest Hong Kong lounges. Amenities will include shower suites, wireless charging, and an elevated food and beverage program anchored by the airline’s signature Noodle Bar along with some NYC influences.

Cathay is also planning a dedicated space for First Class passengers and top-tier Diamond members, separating premium zones in a manner similar to its flagship lounges in Hong Kong International Airport (HKG). For eligible travelers, the airline aims to offer direct boarding from the lounge. This is relatively rare in the United States, but something that I enjoy when boarding flights from the Delta Sky Club® at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).

The shift from Terminal 8 to Terminal 6 is expected to streamline the travel experience. The new terminal will offer a more compact layout, easier check-in and security logistics, and shorter walking distances. The move gives Cathay Pacific a purpose-built environment rather than relying on shared or retrofitted spaces.

Anthony’s Take: If construction and approvals remain on track, passengers can expect the new lounge to open in mid-2026 to deliver a more cohesive and premium ground experience for Cathay Pacific’s New York-based travelers.
