There is a lot of moving going on at New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Earlier today, I wrote about SAS’ upcoming plans to move into the new Terminal 1 when it opens in 2026. Cathay Pacific announced today that it will move into the upcoming Terminal 6 (also slated to open in 2026) and will provide passengers there with a new, 10,000-square-foot lounge.

Cathay Pacific will move out of its current home in Terminal 8 and leave its neighbor and fellow oneworld® airline, American Airlines behind. The new terminal will host Cathay’s second US lounge. The other is in San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Cathay Pacific currently operates three nonstop, daily flights to Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) from New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK).

The new Terminal 6 is part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s $19 billion transformation of New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) with two new terminals, two expanded terminals, a new ground transportation center, and a simplified roadway network.

Anthony’s Take: All of the construction at JFK is welcome and will transform the airport into a space that people look forward to flying to/from. I expect many more announcements from airlines as these new spaces progress.
