Cathay Pacific announced today that it’s adding a new US destination to the map in April 2025. Flights between Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), which is American’s largest hub (and the largest in the world).

The 4x weekly route will launch on April 24th (operating on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays). The route will be the new longest flown that Cathay Pacific offers as it clocks in at 8,123 miles. An Airbus A350-1000 will be used for these flights with 46 Business Class, 32 Premium Economy, and 256 Economy Class seats. The Hong Kong-based carrier currently operates 88 weekly flights to North America and serves the following cities:

  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS)
  • Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD)
  • Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
  • New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK)
  • San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
  • Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ)
  • Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

The number of weekly flights will increase to 108 next year with the addition of this new route as well as frequency increases on other routes.

Anthony’s Take: I miss Hong Kong and am hoping to find a deal on this new route with either miles or money. It makes sense for Cathay to add this American hub with both the local and connecting traffic that it offers.

More even than Hong Kong I miss Cathay. They had (it’s been a while due to Covid and award availability) the best first class I’ve ever had the pleasure to experience.
