Alaska Airlines is now offering flights to London operated by British Airways for sale on its website. Alaska and British Airways are both oneworld members and they’re getting a bit cozier. You can book flights to London from seven cities that Alaska serves starting on June 18th.
The carrier says that London is one of the most searched-for international destinations on alaskaair.com and flights between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR) topping the list. British Airways offers significant service from seven keys cities for Alaska. These include:
- Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) (3x daily)
- Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) (3x daily)
- New York John F Kennedy International Airport (JFK) (8x daily)
- Portland International Airport (PDX) (daily)
- San Francisco International Airport (SFO) (2x daily)
- Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) (2x daily)
Starting later this year, passengers will also be able to purchase Alaska flights connecting to British Airways in the United States and flights beyond London on British Airways.
Andrew Harrison, Chief Commercial Officer for Alaska Airlines, said:
We’re excited to add our longstanding partner, British Airways, to our growing portfolio of alaskaair.com book direct airlines. London is one the most requested global gateways by our guests and no one serves it better than British Airways and the oneworld alliance.”
When booking British Airways flights through Alaska, Mileage Plan members will earn 100% of the miles they fly 9one mile for every mile flown). Members also earn 100% elite qualifying miles (EQMs) when booking partner flights on alaskaair.com.
Anthony’s Take: It’s interesting to watch British Airways get closer with Alaska and JetBlue as it continues to be frustrated with all of its longtime partner, American Airlines, issues.
