Breeze Airways announced that it was adding 10 new routes from Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) back in August 2024. These included five cities in Florida including Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ), which later became Breeze Airways’ 12th base. Demand must be far less than expected as Breeze just updated its schedule and reduced frequencies while cutting one route entirely.
Breeze Airways cuts back on some New Haven (HVN) flights:
• Sarasota (SRQ) will be canceled—begins on February 7, ends on February 28
• Fort Myers (RSW) reduced from 5x to 2-3x weekly during March
• Palm Beach (PBI) reduced from 5x to 2-3x weekly during March

The service between Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) and Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) will begin on February 7th and now ends on February 28th. This was running 2x weekly and Breeze was going head to head with Avelo Airlines on the route.
Both Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) and Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) started in December. These flights were offered 5x weekly. In March, this will be halved to 2x to 3x weekly on both routes. Avelo Airlines also flies to both of these Florida cities nonstop. Flights to/from Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) will proceed as planned without frequency changes at this time.
Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) was an airport that lacked commercial service until Avelo entered and launched its stronghold there. Breeze saw an opportunity, but can it take on Avelo after it established itself there first.
Anthony’s Take: Breeze Airways offers a pleasant experience and is opening up some markets. I’ve had some issues with schedule changes, but like the carrier, overall. It seems like Avelo Airlines was more of a challenge in Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) than Breeze was expecting.

Why compete head to head from a smaller airport like this, never made a lot of sense to me. Flying from a smaller to mid size airports with no direct competition seems like a smarter bet.
