Breeze Airways announced today that it is opening its 11th crew base at Akron-Canton Airport (CAK). If you’re not familiar, Breeze Airways is a low-cost airline that offers point-to-point flights to underserved markets across the United States using a fleet of modern Airbus A220 aircraft. I flew Breeze again recently and enjoyed the experience (you can read the full review here). Travel & Leisure named it as one of the five best US airlines for the third consecutive year in 2024. Breeze now serves 69 cities in 31 states with the latest addition.

The carrier’s 11th base will add more than 61 pilot, flight attendant, and maintenance jobs over the next three years. It will also allow the airline to station aircraft at the airport overnight to further establish a foundation for future growth at Akron-Canton Airport (CAK). Breeze currently operates the following crew bases:

    • Charleston International Airport (CHS)
    • Bradley International Airport (BDL)
    • Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY)
    • Norfolk International Airport (ORF)
    • Orlando International Airport (MCO)
    • Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport (PVD)
    • Provo Airport (PVU)
    • Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW)
    • Tampa International Airport (TPA)
    • Vero Beach Regional Airport (VRB)

David Neeleman, Breeze Airways’ Founder and CEO, said:

The Akron-Canton community continues to show high demand for Breeze’s premium, convenient service, so establishing a base in the community is a natural fit. We are grateful for the incredible support of our partners at JobsOhio, Team NEO, and the Akron-Canton airport as we continue to invest in Breeze’s future growth at CAK.”

Anthony’s Take: I have been a fan of Breeze Airways, overall. It’s great to see continued expansion for the airline with new routes and new bases being opened.
