When I first heard about Bilt Rewards and the Bilt Mastercard®, I wasn’t too interested. I own my condo in Chicago and wasn’t paying rent. That changed when we found a place to stay in Tampa for the winter. I try to earn points for everything I buy, but I’m not going to pay hundreds of dollars in fees to charge rent on another credit card. With a use for the card, I applied and have been using it since September. You can earn up to 50,000 points per year paying rent without the added costs of other card issuers.
Customer Service
Customer service is excellent. I had an issue with fraud about a week ago where my card number was being used via Apple Pay to buy laptops in Madrid. I did not make the charges and Bilt (Wells Fargo) quickly cancelled the card and sent me a new one. The agent was thorough, friendly, and got me what I needed quickly.
Bilt Rent Day
Bilt also makes Rent Day fun with games, a monthly contest for free rent, special offers (two months ago they gave away United Premier Silver status), and bonus points given for purchases made on the first of each month. The card normally earns at the following rates:
- 1 point per $1 spent on rent
- 2 points per $1 spent on travel
- 3 points per $1 spent on dining
- 1 point per $1 for all other spend
During rent day, the points awarded doubles for travel and dining. I love these bonuses and tend to time spending for the first of the month.
Bonus Points and a Chance at Free Rent
You can earn Bilt Points by answering trivia questions Bilt’s quiz game, Point Quest™. It’s available in the Bilt app and you can only play on the first of the month. For January, Bilt has double the questions for the chance to win double the points (up to 600). The Rent Day Challenge has you fill in the blanks on a Wheel of Fortune-style puzzle for the chance to win up to $2,500 paid in rent. Clues are available on the first through a few influencer partners. Follow @BiltRewards on Instagram for extra clues.
Anthony’s Take: If you pay rent it makes sense to have the Bilt Mastercard®. I look forward to Rent Day each month for the great bonuses, fun games, and special offers.
