I’ve written about the new partnership between Starbucks and Marriott Bonvoy® that started in June. The new collaboration allows members of both rewards programs to earn bonus points and stars. I appreciate earning Marriott Bonvoy® points with my daily coffee and double stars from Starbucks when I’m staying at a Marriott property. The partnership just added a new element where members can easily transfer Marriott Bonvoy® points to Starbucks Rewards, but the exchange rate is not great.
Marriott Bonvoy® points are transferrable to Starbucks Rewards at a 10:1 ratio. This means that 1,000 Marriott Bonvoy® points become 100 Stars. A minimum of 1,000 points can be transferred with a daily maximum of 50,000 points. Starbucks Rewards offers the following redemption rates:
- 25 Stars: Customize your drink
- 100 Stars: Brewed hot or iced coffee or tea, bakery item, packaged snack, and more
- 200 Stars: Handcrafted drink (Cold Brew, lattes, and more) or hot breakfast
- 300 Stars: Sandwich, protein box, or at-home coffee
- 400 Stars: Select Starbucks® merchandise
Transferring Marriott Bonvoy® points does not provide good value and should not be done. You’re better off saving your points and using them for a hotel redemption. If you still want to transfer, you can do so here.
Anthony’s Take: I love Starbucks and have been loyal to Marriott for many years. I’ll grab my daily coffee and earn bonus points and stars when I can, but I’m not making any transfers here.
